| About me: | I have two primary interests right now. I practice and teach Historical European Martial Arts, particulary those of German origin. My favourite weapons are the German longsword as taught by the 14th century master Johannes Liechtenauer, and the messer (a big, sword-sized knife) as taught by Johannes Leckuchner, who adapted Liechtenauer's longsword teachings to the messer in the 15th Century. I have also studied a bit of Italian Rapier, Sword & Buckler, and medieval German Ringen (combat grappling). To round out my martial studies, I also study classical Japanese swordsmanship. To quote Hanko "The Priest" Dobringer: "There is but one art of the sword". I also have a degree in jazz performance, and have performed many stlyes of music throught the U.S. and Canada. I'm a big fan of John Coltrane, Oscar Pettiford, Charlie Parker, Jimmy Raney, Pat Martino, John Patitucci and Scott LaFaro to name a few. Oh, and I'm a Capricorn if anyone cares. Capricorn-Aquarius cusp, no less. ;) |
