It was not wrong to cancel your order, but it was wrong to insult them. I admit I'm skeptical about this question, because I can't believe people in customer service would be discussing their religion.

In any case, I'd stop even the "just friends" thing, since it's still more than that to you. If both kids are only 14, the parents are lunatics. I understand that this was done centuries ago, but the lifespan was shorter and the "teenage" concept didn't exist in the sense it does today. In our culture now, 14-year-olds are still pretty immature and legally are considered children.

Me and my gf of 3 & a half years broken up on Oct 8th 2009 it's been a complete wreck for me, she keeps telling me she don't feel the same for me but i refuse to give up she is the most amazing girl i ever met i really wanna patch things up help? please!!
These things happen - pain is part of life, but misery is optional. You're making yourself miserable by hanging on, and she doesn't gain any respect for you if you're constantly contacting her. Get your chin up, quit talking to her, and move on with your life. Let yourself grieve, there is nothing wrong with that at all. But start putting this in your past.

I think it was smart and classy of Mrs. Obama to have chosen a dress designer from India to create her gown for the first State Dinner honoring the leader from India. The gown was gorgeous. What do you think? Smart or conniving? Thoughtful or political?
I think it was both smart and thoughtful, with a touch of political thrown in. It made her look absolutely stunning, and she honored the country the White House was hosting by choosing a gown made by someone of Indian descent.

Both. They do get criminals off the streets - problem is, there are plenty left. And a young one in prison probably doesn't take long to get toughened up and more into the criminal mind-set.

If you mean in terms of career advancement, maybe. Though someone in an engineering firm could be promoted to team leader, executive leader, or whatever. Engineers make excellent money even without promotion, though. And if you really love the work, nothing is dead-end.

I always appreciated his talent, and tried to overlook his, er, "eccentricities". MJ was incredibly entertaining, and I doubt a single person ever left one of his concerts feeling they didn't get their money's worth. And he seemed to truly love his fans in return, which is just as important.

They sound really toxic. If you are young, please talk to your parents about this; they should protect you from any form of abuse from others.
If you are an adult, stop inviting these idiots. This year, since they're already coming, ignore their crappy behavior or give them a blank stare when they try to start something.

Why can't I cry? It hurts so bad, and I want to cry so much, but I just can't. I feel like I don't remember how.
It could be physical, but it could also be psychological. Some people who have had emotional breakdowns or traumas in the past can find it impossible to cry. Questions and expressing opinions are part of the give-and-take in a lively conversation. What matters is how this is done - there's a difference between being interested and being nosy. There are ways to state an opinion without being overbearing. It's about a pleasant demeanor and good manners - and a genuine interest in the other person.

Your actions will do more to convince her than oceans of words. Stop being so physical. Don't paw her at every opportunity. Treat her as your best friend - which in a way she should be. It's normal to feel this way after looking at pics or communication from a partner's old love affair (and now you know why you shouldn't have taken a peek at it). You may want to come clean with him and tell him about your feelings - not so that he can rush to reassure you, but because he is (or should be) a trusted friend you feel safe talking this over with.

Anyone can join, and they'll be glad to take your money. IMHO too much of it goes to stupid stunts and sensationalistic publicity. I'd rather support the SPCA or the Humane Society.
P.S. We can do without the gay-bashing.

What to do if there are unexpected guests since one week, messed up your life and don't want to go back?
If they have been there for one week and don't want to leave, you'll have to stiffen your spine and tell them you can't have them there any longer. Offer to help them pack. If you have a spouse or partner, this is something you should stand together on.

My father told me early on that there was no Santa Claus. Do you think this is a good thing to tell small children?
How early on was it? I believed up until about age 8 or so, and I'm glad! I remember fondly the innocence and magic of thinking there was a Santa, an Easter Bunny, and even a Tooth Fairy! I say let children have this sweet time - real life will hit them soon enough.

Call the manufacturer - they should have a tech support or some other number in the manual. The same problem happened to me once with a television set and they gave me help on the phone and that fixed the problem. (Darned if I can remember what I did, though, to fix it, or I'd tell you!)....

Has rudeness become a chronic condition in our society?
Look around at what's influencing people on television, in music and films - being a smart-mouth is considered not just cute, but admirable. No wonder our culture has become so uncivil. One visit to an internet chat room would convince anyone we're on a downhill slide where manners are concerned.

People may not realize you're Jesus unless you're lugging a cross on your back. They might think you're an Old Testament prophet or some such....In any case, I doubt Jesus himself would be offended; he often hung out in bars with disreputable folk.

I accidently killed my neighbors pet and didn't tell them. Now they think 'Nicholas' ran away. I told them I'd help look for him but I really don't feel like wasting my time. I don't even like my Neighbors, should I even tell them?
It depends on your ability to sleep at night while you deceive them. I would come clean (if they are not violent people); I'm sure they would want to get closure about this pet. It's better for them to know what happened to their pet than to spend weeks looking and hoping.
It may help you to discuss this first with a parent or even someone who could go with you or mediate.

When our area was in a serious drought and outside water use was forbidden, we were told to conserve on flushing as well. We're no longer in a drought, but I got in the habit of flushing every 2nd or 3rd pee, and still do. I have one of the old big-tank toilets, and hate to waste all that water. It sounds like your children are pre-schoolers. If you can possibly afford it, there are day care centers for little ones. Church day cares take kids as young as 2 for a whole morning. Or how about a sitter even one day a week? It sounds like you need some down time!
You might want to look online to see if there are online communities for women in your situation. You are NOT alone.

I live next door in southwestern Virginia, which is similar. In the winter months, count on some very cold nights and plenty of icy wind. There is not as much snow as you might expect, but it depends on that particular winter. Generally speaking, nights are in the 20s and low 30s, and days are in the 30s and 40s. Temps can drop much lower, and you can be surprised by a day or so in the 70s.

"Caucasian" includes folks from India, Iran, Turkey, and more very dark skinned peoples. However, "Caucasian" is usually used interchangeably with "white." I think that this sort of classification is outdated. What is your opinion of this?
I was taught in college Anthropology class that there are three races and that's it: Caucasian, Negro, and Mongoloid (we usually say Asian). Of course a lot of mix-and-match goes on and there are color variations within each race, but those are the Big Three, unless the scholarship on this has changed.

My boyfriend of 10 years broke up with me. He says I'm not the right one for him. He still calls me "honey" but he's very cold to me when we talk. Is he doing this out of charity? He still cares about me, but does he still love me?
If he'd been calling you "Honey" all those years, it may be force of habit. My ex-husband and I still called each other that for several years after our divorce!
But seriously, it's time to move on. This has not been a loss if you have many fond memories of the past 10 years. It's time to make new memories with new life experiences and new relationships.

At what point should the American people decide to overthrow the gov't and institute a new system better suited for society?
At the point where the so-called elected "servants" have been more concerned with their next election than with their actual constituency. Which, come to think of it, is pretty much what it is now.

My kid brother's favorite breakfast was always a large glass of chocolate milk and smooth peanut butter on hot toast. Not exactly what I would call a "typical" breakfast, right? Do you or someone you know have an "unusual" breakfast each morning?
Peanut butter is a pretty good way to start the day - it's high-energy food with lots of protein. I put it on toast or an English muffin all the time.
I like the breakfasts in some parts of Europe - cold meats and cheeses with all kinds of breads.

Why is it a terrible idea to have no afterlife?
An eternity of nothingness isn't the greatest prospect, though Ayn Rand always said, "You won't know you're dead, so what's the problem?" I agree more with Woody Allen, who said he thought what bothered him most about death was the hours.
Personally, I lean toward reincarnation, but wonder what goes on between lives.

How is it possible for a person to always be inquisitive?
The person who is inquisitive, in the sense of always interested in learning new things or figuring stuff out, is very fortunate, especially if this continues into old age. This does not mean nosey, which is a version of inquisitiveness that is unattractive, since it means too much interest in others' personal lives.

Is it wrong to always secretly feel jealous of your husband's ex?
No, it is not. It's probably more common than you think. For years, I couldn't stand the thought of my husband's ex-girlfriend - the sneaky little minx! We've been divorced for years, and the memory of her still annoys me LOL! Not sure if that qualifies as jealousy, exactly.

Do you decorate the outside of your home for Holloween?
Yes, a little. I have vintage Halloween cut-outs from the days when the holiday had a sinister and not cute connotation. They're not terrifying, but they're more effective than adorable kittens popping out of pumpkins. They go up on my outside door.

When dating, is it wrong to expect your partner to end a friendship with someone that is toxic to your relationship? That friend is constantly trying to pull her into singles bars, is against her being in the relationship at all. Ages of parties in 40s
It's up to your partner to decide if she wants to give up the friendship. If she lets another person influence her to the point of giving you up, she's not worth it in the first place.

My problem is that I don't seem to know what I want in my life. I have a boyfriend of 3 years who wants to marry me. My ex-husband wants to come home and cries. He had many issues and I'm worried, but I can't say no either, I don't know who I want - help!
Think carefully about those "issues" your ex has - they may be the reason the marriage broke up in the first place. It is up to him to get help with them, not you to take him back to make it all better (which it won't)....If you're really torn up, I suggest counseling.

You may want to have a trial separation, during which you do not see him. It sounds like you need to be away from him to get a perspective. If you cannot afford this, perhaps a friend or a family member would let you stay with them. If he is physically abusing you, go to a shelter.

Rather than embarrassing yourself by showing up at his girlfriend's house, start refusing to let him in the door when he shows up. Is there any particular reason Jen-Jen is closing her account?

If you had $100 in your checking account and you wrote 4 checks for $1 $1 $1 and then one for $100, you might have 3 checks clear and one overdraft fee. But banks will now run the $100 check first, then the three $1's so you pay 3 fees. Do you object?
As Donald Trump would say, "It's nothing personal, it's just business."

How do you tell someone that you really just want to be friends w/o hurting they're feelings?
You can't. How hurt they are depends on how involved you have been with them. If this is an affair of several months or more, it will be more painful than for someone who just has a crush on you. But do it now - before they are even more hurt. Best of luck.

Well, he may have told you the relationship was over, which doesn't mean it was. This is often a ploy for a man to get into a woman's pants.
He also tells you he's leaving - plenty of women have heard that one before, and ended up wondering where the moving van is.
And I wonder if his wife shares your view about not being a homewrecker!

2. They turned a deaf ear to all the drug education the schools provide as well as the public warnings and have decided they are invincible. Which I also call stupid.

What do you call a guy:
Who is 31 & still lives w/ his parents,
Who smokes marijuana at least 1-2x's/day,
Who is UNEMPLOYED,
Who is a 'dead-beat' dad,
Who has a bad temper when you bring up the truth to him,
Drinks beer,
need I say more?
He probably needs rehab before he can get his life together, but he won't agree to it until he is willing to change. The guy may also be suffering from depression. This question actually says as much about his parents as it does about him - they are enablers and are doing their son NO favors by allowing the situation to continue.

Why do people think shrinks and behavior experts know more than God? The Bible say of dicipline, spoil the rod and spare the child, and Proverbs 22:15, 20:30, and 13:24 affirms sometimes belt leather is needed to keep kids in line for serious trouble.
I don't care what the Bible or anyone else says - it is wrong to beat your child with an object such as a rod or a belt. A smack on the behind with the palm of the hand can get the point across when all else fails, but anything more drastic is abuse.

Your only reason for complaint would be if his children arrived for the weekend, and he took off to play golf or do other guy things for the weekend, leaving you with the four kids to deal with. Hopefully he's spending that weekend time with his kids at the park, zoo, or other outing. If he's abandoning everyone (which seems unlikely) you and he need to have a talk!

That doesn't bother me as much as people saying, "There but for the grace of God go I," when talking about another's misfortune. Are they saying that God favors some over others? I don't buy that at all!

The flow of life is constant..our time here is much too brief..we look back thousands of years and marvel at the brilliance and ingenuity of those who preceded us..what will those who follow us think of us when they look back?
They'll think we spent so much time fiddling with our technological gadgets and playthings that we never had time to really connect with life or with each other.

I have to get up at 6 every morning, go to bed at 10, but I don't always fall asleep soon - I find myself still awake at 11:30. How can I fall asleep sooner?
I know some would disagree, but I don't think we all need a full 8 hours of sleep a night. Lots of people do fine with 6-7 (I know I do).
But if it will help, take a book to bed with you and read until you fall asleep. Nothing too suspenseful or grisly, though!

If her excuse for cheating is because you are "not there", then she's willing to love the one she's near. I'd put on my running shoes if I were you.

I just moved, and my cat Pumpkin is moving with me; My dad took the dog she grew up with & now Pumpkin is urinating and throwing up in the house. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to stop this or how to slowly ween her into my new home?
Pumpkin is either having separation anxiety without her canine friend, so else she is just stressed at being moved to a new environment. Or both. I'd give it a few more days, then contact a vet. Any chance you could get the dog back? - I bet s/he's missing Pumpkin.

Does anyone like being a loner. I do. It's not like I can't fit in, or I don't have friends, I just like being on my own. I like shopping by myself, I like going for walks by myself. I rarely use my phone, but do go out for lunch with a group or parties.
I relate to you completely, because I am the same. Some of the answers so far have indicated they like to be alone "occasionally". I think overall you prefer solitude to being around others, and like socializing on your own terms. This does not make you a loner, which indicates someone who wants NO interaction with others; it just means you prefer your own company.

I can't imagine living with someone I loathe. I'm continually astonished at women who remain with a nasty, abusive, misery-making partner because they "don't want to be alone." Men do this, too, I realize, but for some reason women are more likely stay with a creep for no other reason.

I have a 15yr old boy and a17 yr old boy in the house. The youngest likes to shoot his bb guns in the house, the older is more responsible, but is very secretive. Any ideas for raising teen boys?
Yes, remove the bb guns from the 15-year old's possession - he isn't responsible enough yet to use one, and may put out someone's eye. A secretive 17-year old? Why, I never!
If you really suspect he's hiding something unhealthy, then be concerned. But otherwise, I think that's pretty normal for 17.

I am in my early 20's. I've been married 4 years. My husband was physically abusive for the first 3 years of our relationship. He isn't anymore, but he's generally an unpleasant person. He won't let me work in a public place or go to school. He won't let
Red warning flags should be going up all over the place. Not only has he abused you physically and probably verbally, but it sounds like he's trying to isolate you as well. And evidently he doesn't "let" you do something (your last sentence is unfinished)....all this points to a controlling and abusive man. I'd get out while you can because this will probably get worse.

I've always heard (and read) that you cut a tiny x right on the bite and begin sucking the venom out, then spitting it out. This is odd - you have been married 20 years, and the issue of having children of your own has not come up until now? It sounds to me like she took the recent news of her sterility pretty badly, and this is her response. If you can gently suggest counseling, and agree to go with her, that might help this situation.

Instead of living in a homeless shelter, if you have siblings old enough to live on their own, why don't you just live with them?
If you live with them, better be out looking for a job most of the day, so you're not just sponging. And pull your weight around the house by making yourself useful with chores, errands, etc.
Many family members are unwilling to take in another member because they're afraid they can't afford it.

My bf dumped me over msn. No explanation after 2 yrs. Now I'm trying desperately to call him because I feel like I never got a chance to speak. He just won't pick up his phone. Is it wise for me to keep trying, for my own mental state?
What is msn? My social network?
In any case, your boyfriend sounds like a big fat coward with no moral character. It won't be long before you're thanking your lucky stars he's out of your life. Trust me, in five years you won't even remember what he looked like.

My husband and I were recently married. I am 32 and have no children, but he has two. I want just one baby, what are things to consider before I pursue the issue?
I hope this is something you discussed with your husband before marrying him. This kind of thing can be a deal-breaker for many a marriage! In any case, the most important issue is whether he would like another baby, too.

When you prepare to fly home from your holiday, how soon do you find yourself 'gearing up' to resume your at home pace of life? Or do you? Have you ever let a slower pace continue with you upon your return, letting it change you?
Actually, my home pace is probably slower than my holiday pace! All I know is I'm always ready to go home, no matter how great a time I've had being away.

My BF refuses to take responsibility for lying to/deceiving me. When I raise issues, he says that we "can't get along" and that "all we do is argue". After time passes, he implies that I could have fixed the situation. Is there any way to deal with this?
He sounds manipulative - he lies and maybe cheats, and then makes HIMSELF the victim when you call him on it. Ask yourself how much you really need him in your life....

This is a question many have asked and few have answered satisfactorily. Supposedly we wanted to find weapons of mass destruction. They never turned up, yet we became mired in a useless war. JMO.
