Floaters are actually tiny clumps of gel or cells inside the vitreous, the clear jelly-like fluid that fills the inside of your eye.

The frame of the door has warped or changed, and also the springs of the doors (esp. on new houses) can be affected over time...they are so cheap and wimpy these days. Foundation shifts to a home or apartment, will also do it, as will even a slight wind or draft if the door is a "hollow core" door.

What is the best brand of piano?
Steinway is great of course, as are Yamaha and Baldwin. Depends on what your purpose is. These are also very expensive in the baby and full and concert grand sizes. But they are very good, in my opinion. I would have added Chickering but not anymore, sad to say. They stopped manufacturing them in 1983-4 I think.

What is the most unusual thing you have ever used duct tape for?
When I was dating a woman who had occasional episodes of psychotic breaks where she had flashbacks to a violent attack on her, she would think I was the attacker and attack me!
One time, I could not get her calmed down the usual ways or get pills in her to calm her down plus she had grabbed a chef's knife with a 10" blade.
So, I managed to knock the knife out of her hand...

Taking the law into my own hands would only end up with ME in jail or prison probably, and it would not serve any good purpose except to get out some of my anger, which I can do in a much more productive manner.
I would let the people trained in handling the law and crimminals handle it.

I can spend a million dollars on expensive perfume only to hear my boyfriend tell me he likes me to wear berry smelling stuff or stuff that smells like candy. Men, what's your favorite perfume for a woman to wear and why? Any suggestions?
I like NO perfume, frankly. The smell of fresh skin with maybe a hint of soap smell is much more pleasing and natural to me.
If I had to smell a perfume, it would have to be something that was VERY light and could hardly be smelled, with a fresh, outdoors smell. I don't keep up with the names, but generally I like no perfume. It is not necessary, and I find a natural fresh body smell...

Take vitamins with or after a meal. Taking them on an empty stomach is risky, since many can upset the stomach. Also, ask the place you got them if they should NOT be combined with other vitamins.
Also, don't take them all at once. Spread them out the day and early evening. And I would not take any right before bed.

It depends on many factors:

There are some people who also go into a remission with what for most is a terminal disease, for various reasons. It's not luck or fate. It has to do with all of the above and I am sure other factors as well.

The original "gridirons" were just that: grids made of iron, used to cook fish or meat over an open fire. Early on in the history of football, someone in the cheap seats high in the stadium must have noticed that the parallel yardlines marking the field...

There is certainly a chance. So wait until she can get tested, and then get her tested!! And unless you want to be a young father, use protection next time.

Shivering is one of the methods that the human body uses to warm itself. It is a neurological reaction, that the body executes when it gets too cold. Joggers are familiar with the concept of moving to stay warm; they run in the coldest of weather and manage to stay warm.

That blink-refresh rate is not normal, and I am sure her eyes ARE dry if she is not blinking more often than that. It could be any number of things, but I would surely have a perioatrician or other doctor check her out ASAP!

Answer to:
How long on average does cologne/perfume last until they lose the quality of the scent?
It depends entirely on the amounts of oils and alcohol, and other ingredients in them. The more oils and aromatic ingredients, the longer most will last, since alcohol evaporates much more quickly than oils. Also, the stronger-heavier the scent, the longer the smell will linger in most cases.
For example "toilet waters" are less strong and have more alcohol in them than colognes...

Does dietary fiber speed elimination of food thereby reducing calories digested or does it slow down elimination, helping us absorb more nutrients?
By speeding up digestion, if you ingest too much fiber and speed up the digestion alot, you can lose a bit of the nutrients in your food, but that is fairly minor. You also will probably not absorb as much calorie wise, but it is not going to help you lose much if any weight.

Spend it with the people I cared the most about if possible. If not, stay home and think about my life, maybe watch my favorite DVD and eat my favorite meal. I would also call my few close friends and say good bye to them, assuming I could get a dial tone.

Pizza. At least it would provide me with enough calories and nutrients, so if I had to eat only that, I would have a fairly healthy body, and not get scurvy or some other diseases caused by lack of protein or carbs or nutitionally essential vitamins.

How much money does a Vet make a year?
My vet makes WAY too much. Probably more than my doctor. He charged me 3 x more for pills for my dog than I would pay if I bought them to take for myself!! (the same pills identically!).
Owning a pet can be very expensive, especially as they get older. My vet probably makes $500,000+ a year. He lives in a $900,000 home. Works 4 days a week.

In person, I am usually real close to my first impression if I get chances to continue to see them or talk with them. Online is alot more difficult. You cannot see facial expressions, hear tone of the voice, and see body language which is a great advantage in real life in person.
I think that is one problem inherent with places like this. We can use smileys :) ;) and all to help, but even...

Imagine you are stranded on a ship in the ocean. You're sinking for sure within 10 minutes. You have a "satellite cell phone" that can call *anywhere,* but you only have 8 "open" minutes of time on it! Who do you call & how much time do you talk to them?
DO NOT say you will call for help, because there is no help that can save you in time!!! :) You also cannot swim to land or be rescued. There IS NO chance of getting out alive. Period! OK? Think about it. 8 minutes. Who would you want to talk to the last 8 minutes of your dam life?!??!?

I have burned my hand with boiling water. What should I do now?
The very first step is to stop the heat. Do this by submerging the burned area in semi-cold water as fast as you can.
Getting cold water onto the area as fast as possible is the single most important factor in minimizing the burn damage.
Do NOT use ice. This can cause cold damage to the skin, which may make the burn worse.
The next step is to continue the cold water for at least 20...

If it is for his family, (and if you were close to them or not) it would get tricky I would think. You know what he liked and loved. Donate money or make something or buy something that reperesents what he cared for, loved, or lived for.
Either give it to a deserving person (if not his family) or organization, or put it on your wall or somewhere in your home to honor him. You can look at it...

Controversy around this once innocent topic makes me hesitate to ask...OK I hesitated. Did you have a crush on a K-12 teacher? (I could be wring but that might translate into any teacher before and until you take A levels, for some of us)
I had a HUGE crush on my French teacher from 9th grade. I ended up going to France as an exchange student and she and her dam husband came to visit also!
Later, when I was about 18-20, she DIVORCED him! She was 12+ years older than me, but I went to visit her 3-4 times and we flirted abit. Nothing came of it as I was too shy and she had two kids I could not tolerate!

Just be yourself, and if you respect others and are polite, friendly, SMILE off and on, and have a good attitude, you will not be either boring or a phoney! And you should make friends who like you for who you really are, not for something...

What is the proper hanging height for oil paintings in a formal home dining room?
This is what I learned in interior design and told all my clients and others who own artwork:
The center of the picture should be approximately at eye level. When you’re hanging a group of pictures/paintings, the midpoint of the grouping should be at eye level also. This is *usually* about 55 to 57 inches from the floor.
If the art is small, hang it a little lower so it...

If I know the person, I would tell them the truth...as diplomatically as I could. I wouldn't say "No, you look big as a house!" But I might suggest it makes them look abit heavier than they are in another color of style of clothing.
If I didn't know them I would give my opinion but in an even MORE diplomatic way. I don't want to get maced or shot by some strange...

If you could live in any book or movie...which would it be and why?
Camelot. Despite the things that would not be as sanitary as modern times - if I was just there, I would be used to all that. They had alot of fun there, jousting, fairs, and merry maidens in huge pubs and beer halls. Very low crime rate, low cost of living. If I go by the movie, it was actually nice and they had a ruler (Arthur) who took good care of them along with help from his knights.

Hard to do without really irritating your nose or sinuses...but you can try strong scents, like perfumes or something like that, esp. if you don't like the smell. Also you could try cleaning materials like Windex, laundry powder, and other things that have strong smells of chemicals.
Good luck, (I think).

I use a program called "Life Journal," a software program that allows you to put in all kinds of things, including your mood, and other things. It's not expensive and I find it very good. I use it almost daily, and enjoy looking back at what happend and how I dealt with it over time.

Imagine the person you hate most in the world is totally at your mercy, and you can do whatever you want to them. Where would you draw the line of what you do?
I don't hate anyone. But if I had someone in that kind of position (like a criminal or something) and they were bound and tied up and at my mercy, I would call someone who was the appropriate person to deal out both handling them and also their punishment. I don't consider myself to be a judge or jury for anyone, besides myself perhaps.

This gets back to personality and popularity contests of sorts, so I am going to not answer with one name, and instead say there are several GREAT AB people on here who deserve alot of praise for their consistantly good answers, but who are not people who really accept compliments very eagerly. To single out one would be unfair to the others.

If you were asked to describe your personality in one word, as a fruit, what fruit or vegetable would it be and why?
An onion. Alot of layers to peel away to get to the inside. Can be hard on the eyes and cause tears at times. Has redeeming qualities when treated well, handled gently and simmered, to allow the good, enjoyable and healthy things to emerge. A natural antibiotic also, so my quirks and foibles and peccadillos are not likely to be contagious at all. :)

From all I have ever read, it is a very tough and competitive profession. Assuming a person is very skilled, they still need a good agent to help them get good bookings. I have, due to a part of my business I used to do, witnessed this on numerous ocassions. Sometimes the pieces were insignificant value wise, but had sentimental value, and sometimes they were valuable, and the people were greedy.
All the more reason for people to have good clearly spelled out WILLS and "Memorandums to WILLS," and have them signed, witnessed and notorized. Keep...

"White lies" if they cannot hurt anyone I think are permissible as long as it doesn't become a habit.
Lies that DO hurt others directly or indirectly I feel are wrong, and there are better ways to handle it.
As for "excusable", I am sure the person lying has an excuse for their lies. But the excuses could be lies also ;)

Only when I am gone. But by that time, it will be too late for people to realize what I gave and how they were affected. Not meaning to sound arrogant, just abit unappreicated at times.
I have changed it in a small way with some of my replies on here, if they have helped people, since people make up the world. If you mean cure world hunger or create world peace, no. But I don't think...

That is a question that even men over 30-40-50 wonder about sometimes!
Just take it slowly, and use your best instincts. In time you will get better at "reading" what people's real intentions are annd most of the time will be able to see if they are playing you or not before you get hurt or "played." The only simple answer is it just takes experience with many women...

Ask him if he wants to go someplace for something to eat (daytime) first. Alot less stress than a night time date. Or ask him to do something else with you with others to act as a "buffer" in case you or he are shy.
If he is into you at all he should say yes.

Like any other country, we have our faults and our good points. It is not the country that matters, it is the people or person that I develop a feeling for. I like many in the USA. I also like many in all the other countries I have visited. And I dislike some also. Has nothing to do with where they live. It has to do with how they are as people/a person.

Yes once, about 1982, picked up at home, 9pm at night no cash on me, and taken to jail for TWO over due parking tickets! The city was cracking down, and I was booked and thrown into the "tank" holding area with about 75 others, from motorcycle gang members to businessmen.
The bad thing was I had to really go to the bathroom, and it was an open door thing with NO privacy at all. So...

I'd think if she is so hard up she has to pay in pennies, I can stand and wait, because I am so much better off than she is financially.
I wouldn't say a dam thing to her.

I wouldn't buy her anything. I would ASK for some/most of the $45,000 back in antiques and art she took before I had a chance to get a court order or an inventory of what all we had.
It was 2000 miles away by court date. The stupid judge did nothing. Ain't love grand. lol

How was your day? What was the best part? The worst?
Started off bad. Eyes stuck together when I woke up (I have an eye disease which makes my eye tears and moisture dry up when I sleep). So I had to put drops in them and wait 1-2 hrs to be able to see well and for them to not hurt when I blink (Contact lens wearers can relate to some of this I think - they often get eyes scratched and dry both).
Foggy nasty weather, but could have been worse....

If you can get a small dog like that to stop doing what MOST small breeds do, like Yorkies, Maltese, Shitzou, Pekinese, miniature poodle, miniature schnauzer, and other miniatures, you are doing well. They are "hyper" and "yippy" by nature, due to their size and many due to their type (terriers in particular). That comes from my vet, not my opinion. Mine went to training...

How much education do you have? Did you really need that much -- or even more perhaps?
Total years about 17 or so with additional education on top, that was training for one of my former professions.
I could have done nicely with HS, and 2 years of college frankly, saving 3 years. Although some people I have known have known said what I learned was a waste of time and money. They also were not real close friends of mine :)
Frankly, I have learned much more on myu own after...

Is there a limit on how much you can rate each other up?
Yes, in any given week. It depends on rank I think. You'll know when you hit it. A thing pops up and tells you you have given that member too many points that week and you cannot leave any.

What do you know about hummingbirds? I find them fascinating.
They are attracted to red and red sweet syrup in hummingbird feeders.
Also:
Hummingbirds are small birds in the family "Trochilidae." They are known for their ability to hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings, 15 to 80 times per second (depending on the species). Capable of sustained hovering, the hummingbird has the ability to fly deliberately backwards or...

What was the most practical item of clothing invented in modern times for women?
OK, I'll add a few, since I am not a woman and am not an expert: Pantyhose, seamless bra, fashion scarves that can be used on the head, around the neck, as a belt, etc., sports bra.
OK I give up. If no women know of anything, I guess there were none invented.

How do you bring a spark to your relationship?
I wrote this 7 years ago, but I think it still holds true. On all of these but # 4, "HER/SHE" can just as easily be replaced by "HE/HIS":
1. Send Her A Romantic/Love Sentiment Card Unexpectedly.
Sometimes the "just because" gifts, we give those we care about mean as much or more than those given on special occasions that are expected.

What’s best way to make a marriage work/last?
Have all your discussions about values and how you feel about children, jobs, and everything else that will come up down the road over with so you know where you stand and agree on most of those.
Then decide that you won't bail out just because something goes wrong. Talk it out always, and compromise. If you still need help, get help, don't just go around in circles.

Once, unfortunately. I had a very bad time of it. It was totally stupid of me. But in the late 60's-early 70's, that was alot more popular I think as a recreational drug.

Here's my scenario:
I take my normally outspoken friend to a formal dance at my school (we go to different schools). She seems thrilled beforehand, but distant and completely not herself the entire night of the dance. It is uncomfortable.
What was up?
Sounds like she might have been abit shy or felt out of place since she was not around her own friends. or she might just not have felt well, or had some drama at home before you picked her up. Could she have been upset with you for any reason??
If it really bothers you, you could ask her. :)

Is it considered an allergy if perfumes, flowers, scented candles, etc. give you terrible sinus headaches?
You would be considered "sensitive" to them. Most allergists consider true allergies as something they can test you for, or that give you hives, a rash, or things like that. It depends on the allergist. I would say you are "allergic" to them and stay away form them, regardless of what we want to call it.
It's not worth getting the headaches. And for things like...

How well do drinking water filters and purifiers really work?
If you buy the reverse osmosis kind like Culligan and other national companies sell, they work very well. Generally, you get what you pay for. With my filter, it removes everything but bacteria, and that is another very expensive thing you can add to the system.
Reverse osmosis changes my tap water from having 10 parts per million of contaminants (of all kinds!) in it to 1 parts per million...

I would say it depends on what is most convenient, most cost effective and is a decision more of being practical and time efficient, rather than manners. :) You both can put your brains together and figure out what makes the most sense I am sure, without asking our opinons.
I don't think manners should need to come into play. She already knows you have manners silly boy. ;)

1. Quit spending as much time on AB.
2. Get an eye exam, since AB has made my eyes more blurry I think.
3. "Get religion" of some sort, so religious zealots won't continue to tell me I need to be saved.

Do you think a couple is more likely to have a divorce if they didn't live together before marriage?
I know people who have tried it both ways. Personally I think it is best to live together for a while before committing to the marriage. The reason is that some things you might not see or hear or experience in overnight stays, you will be sure to become aware of if you live with the person.
Sometimes habits, and more importantly, how a person and you get alog when you are around each other...
