It is possible it's a Orb Weaving Spider. If that's the case, they hardly ever bite and even if they do bite you they're pretty harmless. search Orb Weaving Spider in google for images and see if that's the one.

You can injure your muscles if you work out too hard. Stop working out for a week or so until you feel better and try at it again. You need to know when to stop because injuring your muscles is just taking a step backwards.
