Help answer this question below.

If the world's leaders announced that tomorrow the internet will be shut down for good, what would people be most upset about?

This is a hypothetical scenario for discussion, humor and possibly some fun.

I realize that there is no group that can, on their own, take down the internet. If you find it pointless, then good! It is pointless, as so many other "for fun" questions are on this site.

I know this question is meant to be fun.. So, I'm going with porn. TONS of people would go into withdrawals without access to their porn sites.

you forgot one crucial option: university students/employers. I am in university and i cannot tell you how much i rely on internet for research reasons and if i didn't not have it i would freak out for a good month. I know i am not the only one trust me, for example the university has super slow internet at times and you can't believe how much people start freaking out status updates, fits and thats only for like ten minutes.

Luckily world leaders know nothing about technology, so we would pretend obey them, and keep using the internet. After all , we have Mr.Bromide on our side, don't we?

Interesting. Based on the first two questions I think we all agree that the internet is just too broad for anyone or a group of individuals to cut off all access. Remember the internet is global. That means there are multiple access points stationed throughout the world. There are a vast amount of servers and access points in which the internet can be connected. All that needs to be accessed is a signal. Signals are universal. As long as a signal exists within range of a port or access point, then the internet exists. It is just too broad for someone to put an end to it all.

But for the sake of argument IF the internet ceased to exist, I assume those who use Twitter and Facebook would be the first to suffer withdrawl symptoms, since social networking has become so addicting and popular.

Hypothetically speaking, the main affect that it would have, and why people would be upset is because they would loe access to compact universal information at a rapid speed. The internet has become the premier source of all information, largely replacing textbook scoundering, while us living before the internet will remain content, the youth in this "dgital era" will become distraught, no social networking, games etc.... aside from that some adults who have becom accumstomed with usefully utilizing the internet would have to resort to traditional lifestyles... no more e-commerce, e banking, google reviews etc....
