Raise taxes on the wealthy. Some might see that as being the modern day "Robin Hood", but the reality is, those that are wealthy obviously can afford to give a little more than they have been. The sad fact is that for decades, taxation has been in favor of the wealthy and not in favor of the little guys or those that could barely afford to keep themselves afloat. The middle class has had a gripe with those that are receiving tax cuts (wealthy top tier) and that gripe has turned into frustration. Once I was listening to C-SPAN radio, and a caller stated that they were amongst the top percentile of those that are wealthy and living in America. He claimed that he makes literally millions each year. But guess what? He said that he wants to give more in taxes, because he doesn't need anymore money from tax breaks. Obviously he is bold enough to admit this, when most who are rich wouldn't want anything taken away from their earnings.

But my point is, the wealthy don't need tax breaks, nor do they want it (at least some don't). The tax cuts should go to the middle class, while taxes are raised on the wealthy. Taxes not being raised at all, isn't realistic, but it is fair to raise taxes on those who can afford it to be taken.

Close loopholes, go to a flat tax.

The middle class has carried the weight of the tax burden for too long, it's time to stop the rich from slipping through the loopholes.

As usual, half the members of Congress are primarily concerned with protecting the small portion of Americans who don't need any breaks. Meanwhile, the people who can barely keep a roof over their head are expected to pick up the slack. I'm not by any means an Obama fan, but I think it's funny how all of the Republicans blame him for the trillions of dollars in debt we've racked up. They've conveniently forgotten about their little buddy George W. Bush and the 8 year joke that was his presidency. I seem to remember a surplus when he took over. Obama may not have helped, but he certainly didn't open this can of worms.

Well, I certainly do have a clue. 'Taxes on the wealthy' is a term I've been hearing for fifty years. Over that time, no one will admit that it applies to them; no one knows what 'the wealthy' pay compared to the rest of us; if one loophole doesn't work than there's always another one. 'Taxes on the wealthy' is one of those political buzzwords that has no actual meaning and is used for effect only. Don't forget, political terminology is designed to form an image in the mind of the listener that can't be pinned down to an actual meaning. The definition is in the mind of the beholder.
