"Let" Ireland join the UK? Ireland doesn't want to join the UK.

Let the Brits chose as they like!

    I would personally support:
    - replace the house of lords with an elected senate
    - become a republic with a president

    I would not support:
    - leave the EU,
    - let Ireland join UK (Ireland would not wish that anyway)

I care about peace in Europe although I am not a European. As a German/Irish American, I hope peace will remain in Europe. I think the EU may be a way to see peace. Soon America will pull its military out of Europe once NATO falls. We all would feel better with a Europe that is united and less angry as compared to the 20th Century.

I don't believe Ireland wants to join the UK. As I recall, Ireland fought for centuries to be free of the British Crown and became a Dominion in 1922.

The UK is a constitutional monarchy, with perhaps the oldest, most successful and most emulated parliamentary system of government in the world.
Like the old lady said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Sounds like a reasonable idea to me, but without British Royalty there would be about half a million muck-raking paparrazzi and photographers lined up outside the soup kitchens.

It isn't my country. My opinion has no weight either way. :)
