• Actually, see seems to me like the furthest possible from Hobbits. Hobbits don't like adventure. I am convinced that Sarah Palin would use the One Ring to do good and to vanquish terrorists and through her it would work unspeakable evil.

• I see the One Ring as a metaphor for big government. On that basis I'd say Obama, Palin, Pelosi, and Nader are the most likely to use it to get everyone health insurance, defeat terrorists, get everyone health insurance, or save the environment respectively. It seems to me the only person who might refrain, or who would at least refrain the longest, is Ron Paul.
  
  It is not the lobbyist money that is the root of the problem. The lobbyists go to Washington because so much power and taxpayer money is concentrated there. If we want to empower citizens instead of lobbyists, we should give 100% tax credits for charitable contributions, and let individual citizens decide what causes are most important. I'd do it for everything. If the Pentagon wants money, they should have to appeal to the good will of the citizens, not rely on taxes. The lobbyists would have to reason with all of us instead of conducting their business behind closed doors in DC.

• I am convinced that Barack Obama would use the One Ring to do good. So would Nancy Pelosi and Ralph Nader. Sarah Palin might use it to vanquish her enemies, foreign and domestic. The person who seems to me the least likely to use it is Ron Paul.
