What do you tbink should be done with pedophiles?

Not all pedophiles act on their impulses. In fact, most never do. Those that do are no longer mere pedophiles but have graduated to the level of child molester. While child molesting is a crime, pedophilia certainly is not. Just having the attraction to children does not make someone a criminal.

Considering this, what should be done about pedophilies? Should they be killed, put away, studied, left alone, or can anything be done about them at all? Are they just hopeless who cannot be helped or avoided? What do you think?

    I don't agree with any of your views. In my opinion, the age of consent should either be reduced or abolished. I do not think that the State has the right to claim that if an adult has sex with a child that this is non-consenting and is automatically rape. The age of consent laws exist so that the State may give consent to sexual activity. It says nothing about the consent of the child. There is ample research on the inter-net of a high standard indicating that children as young as 10, and perhaps younger have the intellectual and emotional capacity to consent to sex, including with adults. I do not think that the State has the right to interfere with the freedom of 10-16 years olds just to satisfy a desire for religious or social purity, however well-meaning that may be. I do believe that if a child is raped, the perpetrator should be prosecuted under existing rape laws, in which case the State has prove it to be a rape rather than assume it to be a rape. I can see there may be practical difficulties with this because even grown women are hesitant about going to the police to say that they have been raped, but I still stand by the previous sentence, because I believe in justice for all, including paedophiles and children who wish to be sexually active. I do not approve of child prostitution and/or trafficking nor do I approve of children being deployed in war. I fully support child labour laws. I hope that answers your question. The other answers on this thread may be well-meaning but they are all doomed to failure. Minor attraction is a human characteristic and we have all got to learn to live together.

    voted: They should be studied by professionals to either be helped or better understood.

    They should be studied by psychiatrist to see if pedophilia is a mental disorder but they should also have the genitals surgically removed.
