    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

    On One Hand: Oral Hygiene

Smoking can exacerbate bad breath, according to the soberrecovery.com website. The chemicals in tobacco smoke can stick to areas in your mouth that cannot be cleaned by simply brushing your teeth and flossing.

    On the Other: Hygiene Concerns

While smoking in itself does not cause a person to lose interest in personal hygiene or to be careless about his or her cleanliness, the bad odor does cling to the body. Even if the person never smokes in his or her home or car and partakes of a cigarette only while outdoors, the smell lingers, therefore making them smell as if their hygiene good.

    Bottom Line

Breath mints, perfumes, aftershave lotion and good oral hygiene cannot truly mask the odor of cigarettes. Although it does not cause bad hygiene, the person's odor is strong.
