Sharp TV/Older model:Model25K-5100:No remote available, manually changing channels doesn't get me chan. 3-5, need chan 3 for cable service

    Often older TV's did a channel scan when first started up. They would go through the channels and remember which ones got any sort of signal. From then on, the channel up/down buttons would only go through those particular channels.

    You can always do the channel scan again and open up channel 3.. but this requires the remote.

    Your best choice is to just use a universal remote.
    If you had one you wouldn't be asking though. So, what might work, is having the TV unplugged for a long time. If you plug it back in it might forget what channels it had remembered as being worthy. Hook you cable box back up before you plug the TV back in and if it scans again, it should find 3 this time. Unfortunately most TV's remember even when unplugged so this likely will not work.
