Yes somthing has to happen to the energy that was your life therefore science proves there's an after life.
Though you may be upset to find out that the afterlife proven by science is just the dispersion and re-use of atoms and energy that made up your physiological body, as well as the erosion of those atoms into energy that will add to the force that is constantly expanding out universe at a faster and faster pace until everything is nothing and all the energy decays into void. What will be left is virtual particles within the void, but those do not sustain and tend to pop in and out of existence on a whim... Check out the idea of Quintessence, it will help you to understand this. As well, try to remember that Energy and Matter are two manifestations of the same thing, so one does not need to be conserved on it's own, but hand in hand it is so; albeit there is decay for both as well.
Oh, and btw, fun fact about this one, because of this so called "afterlife" we can honestly state that we are part dinosaur, because the atoms released from the dinosaurs upon death and extinction would have been re-used along with many other atoms to create us! ^_^ ROAR!

Science has yet to isolate and describe what 'life' is exactly. Or where it goes. For all we know life is wasted during this lifetime.

Afterlife? I see eternal life. I believe the energy is allocated to sustain life eternal.
One must first die. There are two types of death. Physical and spiritual. There looks to be a promise where many will not taste of death when eternal life sets in. Death is a reduction. Reduced. Powerless. Who has all power? Who are His children? Is this all there is? I do not think so. No one left behind.
