  Years before I discovered astrology, I knew lots of lads in school whose birthdays were that time of year who fitted that description.

• How have you worked that out? Something can only be true or false. If it's true, it's true, and if it's not, it's not. And 30 years of reading about astrology and knowing people's birthdays has taught me that it's true.
  
  Not only that, but it was already true about me for years before I knew anything about it. Obviously, that's because it's true, full stop.

• Collect a lot people and put them in a room, 5 of each star sign. Read out a description of what a Sagittarius person is like, and ask the people if they think that applies to them. Will exactly 5 hands go up, or will a number of hands go up of people with random birthdays?
  
  Here's another experiment: On a single day collect several horoscopes from several sources about a single star sign. Will they all be the same or contradictory as if they were all made up?
  
  Here's another experiment: Given your knowledge about astrology and what star signs have what traits, introduce yourself to someone and get to know them without knowledge of their birthday. You should be able to guess what star sign they are based on their personality.
  
  You said that Sagittarius guys are outspoken. Does that mean that it is impossible for someone to be both Sagittarius and have social anxiety?

  There was a zero chance of it being coincidence? You see what happened was the description for what people are supposed to be is so vague that it could apply to anyone.
  
  It isn't hard to see the holes in astrology, you just need to look.

  I have loads of books on the subject written by various professional astrologers - Linda Goodman, Teri King, Liz Greene, Suzanne White, to name but a few. They all say the same things about my star sign, so no, they are not "contradictory as if they were all made up".

  I've done that loads of times. For your information, I was introduced to someone at a party in 1981 who turned out to be a Sagittarius. I'd never met him before that party, so I didn't know when his birthday was until that night. Before he had the chance to tell me, I said to him, "you're a Sagittarius, aren't you", and then he looked at me with astonishment. He wondered if I was some kind of mind-reader (his birthday was December 12). After that, I guessed the Sagittarian's girlfriend was a Libra, and guess what? Right again. This was in the early days of my discovery of astrology.

  Of course there was zero chance of it being coincidence. There's no such thing as coincidence. I knew that even before I knew there was no such thing as Father Christmas. I expected a more sensible answer than that. And no, astrological traits aren't vague, they are quite clearly defined.

  I think you are trying to CREATE holes in it that weren't already there.

• The Tropical one has all the dates as they should be. I didn't know until now that the Sidereal one has the dates out by a couple of weeks. Even then, it still puts me in Pisces, so nothing is ever going to take that away from me. Obviously I was meant to be a Pisces.
  
  I'll have to look further into the Sidereal zodiac and check the overlap dates. I'll let you know if I get any results.

• I've made a start on the Sidereal zodiac using family birthdays to start off with.
  
  It makes my mum a Sagittarius rather than a Capricorn. No way. My mum is definitely a Capricorn. She's nothing remotely resembling a Sagittarius.
  
  It makes my late father a Cancer rather than a Leo. Definitely not!! No way was my dad a Cancer. He was much more like a Leo.
  
  It makes my sister an Aquarius instead of a Pisces. Actually my sister does have one or two Aquarian-like qualities, although she is still like a Pisces in other ways. Maybe it's the March Pisceans (like myself) who are 100% pure Pisces, and the February Pisceans have one or two things in common with Aquarius.
  
  It makes my niece a Libra instead of a Scorpio. No way is my niece a Libra. She's definitely a Scorpio.
  
  Despite putting the rest of my family into different signs, it still keeps me in Pisces, so it doesn't make any difference to me.
  
  Out of the above, only my sister comes close to fitting her Sidereal zodiac sign, so on the whole I don't think the Sidereal one is correct. I think it may be an older version which may have applied centuries ago when the calendar was different. I don't know that for certain, it was just a guess.
  
  The Tropical zodiac is the one I've always gone by, and it's much more reliable.

• Yes, it is possible for a Sagittarius to have social anxiety. I have a very shy sagittarius friend. She doesn't talk to anyone, just to her very close friends.

• A sagittarius is supposed to be an outward extrovert. Does this mean the whole astrology thing is illusionary or does it mean it only works for some personalities? Either way the astrological hypothesis is indistinguishable from the hypothesis that I can tell your personality by the way you look, talk, write or what shampoo you use. It's all nonsense.
