According to Cancer Research UK, around 80 percent of sunbed users have greater than 75 percent chance of developing skin cancer and the ultraviolet rays in sunbeds radiate 10 to15 times more strength than natural sunlight outdoors. Repeated tanning sessions may lead to aging skin and, later, skin cancer. Talon salons argue that clients who use sunbeds can control how long they tan, thus practicing safe tanning and preventing bad sunburns. They say many of their clients seek out indoor tanning because of a Vitamin D deficiency, and the UV rays will help with conditions like osteoporosis. Sunbeds also help alleviate Seasonal Affective Disorder, seasonal depression due to lack of natural sunlight. Both sides maintain that the other is wrong. Cancer Research UK maintains that indoor tanning is never safe, while the tanning salons argue that they are teaching how to tan safely. If you wish to tan indoors, seek your doctor's advice first to make sure it is safe for you.On One Hand: Risk of Skin Cancer
