I've never found the PSP to be that fun. I got one as a gift from someone a long time ago. The games are not nearly as fun in my opinion to what the DS offers. (especially pokemon) but what makes it better then a ds is its graphics. Idk about you, but to me the graphics look like n64-ps1.

The issue may be that the lithium ion battery in your PSP has basically 'burnt out'. Try replacing the battery before rashly getting another one.
