When a person calls him/herself a prophet the prophecy can be proven through prayer and fasting. It will come to pass. If it does not come to pass, in 100% detail, it is false. Nostradamus said there would be a leader called "Hister." Hister is a river, not a person. Therefore, Nostradamus was a false prophet. He wasn't 100% accurate in every detail.

Unfulfilled prophecy. If a self-proclaimed prophet sets a date then prophesying what will happen on that date and it doesn't come to past, he or she is a false prophet. As Hitchhiker mentioned above, a true prophet will be 100% accurate and I might add, 100% accurate 100% of the time. Most prophets today are neither. Prophecy today must also line up with Scripture. If it doesn't then it's not from God.

There are certain signs that will give him away. Like... he travels in a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce and owns a few mansions and private jets.

Here is a list of signs of a true prophet of Yahweh but for brevity's sake I'll list just the verses where the description can be found.

    1. The true Prophet of the Lord predicts that which does come to pass. If the Prophet's predictions fail, they are exposed as NOT of God. (Deuteronomy 18:21-22)

    2. The true Prophet of the Lord will receive visions or dreams from the Lord. (Numbers 12:6)

    3. When in "vision" their eyes will be open. (Numbers 24:4; Numbers 24:16,)

    4. When in "vision" a true Prophet will NOT breath. "Inspiration" = God Breathed, Therefore, since the Almighty is breathing through the Prophet communicating His Truth, the Prophet has no need to breath. (Daniel 10:17)

    5. A true Prophet will be 100% accurate. there is absolutely no margin for error. (Jeremiah 28:9)

    6. A true Prophet NEVER gives his private interpretation. He only shares what the Lord reveals. Scripture defines Scripture, not man. (2 Peter 1:20)

    7. A true Prophet only prophecies in the name of the Lord. He only seeks to glorify the Lord. He will never seek glory to himself. NEVER! (2 Peter 1:21)

    8. A true Prophet will look to edify, comfort, and uplift the Church body by his testimony as well as exhort them. (1 Corinthians 14:3-4)

    9. A true Prophet believes and preaches the incarnation of Jesus Christ. He will preach Jesus as God who came to Earth and put on humanity in order to redeem us all. (1 John 4:1-3)

    10. A true Prophet will show good works, and have identifiable fruits of a Christian. He/she will have abundant BIBLICAL fruits! (Matthew 7:15-20).

    11. Gender makes no difference. Women can, and have been prophet's as well. (Exodus 15:20; Judges 4:4; 2 Chronicles 34:22, Luke 2:36, Acts 21:8-9).

    12. Performing miracles proves nothing. (Matthew 24:24-25).

Now if you take the above references and compare them to the "so-called" prophets that abound in the church today, you will get a pretty good idea if these "so-called" prophets are true or false.

Being wrong. A prophet who says the world will end next Friday, and it doesn't, is false. Of course, many claims by prophets are uncheckable: if they claim that you will go to heaven if you don't eat beans, that cannot be checked until you get a message back from heaven.

Honesty. Therefore, all are false prophets. You are. They are. We are.

    Prophecy must come from God.

When God is understood, we will know.

Until then, we are dishonest until we have met all lies. Upon administration of the Higher Dose.
