Why do people say, "Noted" when you inform them something that should aid them. (E.g: How to get to a certain place) It's Rude. No?

    It's not rude .. it just means they understood what you said and will keep it in mind.

    The rudeness has to do with whether or not they express appreciation for the information. There's lots of ways to say "noted", just like anything else. If you tell someone something, and their response seems to indicate that they don't appreciate the information, of course there is a chance you'll feel slighted and call that "rude".

    Should they have been more effusive? Who knows? It depends on the situation, the people involved, the goals to be achieved, etc. There's no fixed rules about it.

    It depends onthe circumstances and the person.

    I will say this, though...you have never been truely and professionally "noted" until you've been "noted" by a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy.

    Any Naval officer or Sailor can tell you that.
