Putting people in prison for tax evasion doesn't make any economic sense at all. I mean the government puts people in jail because that person didn't pay them. So their punishment is to live on the government's dime for a set period of time. While in prison this person gets free room and food, actually the government pays them for the work they do. Not only that but they also get free clothes and an education if they so choose.
It all ends up costing the government money. With people like Snipes and Kilmer, it may cost them doubly. Because they are both actors and could make a substantial income if they were not in prison, they miss out on future tax dollars. I mean is prison necessary? Does it solve the problem or just make it worse?
Can both divorced parents claim head of household when filing taxes?
