I grew up with paperbacks and have been an avid reader of them since childhood, so I'm used to writing in margins, underlining, dogearing pages, and the general feeling of a paperback in my hand.

I like reading a book I'm holding in my hands, with heft and weight. Paperback or hardback.
Some forms of technology are unnecessary for me. I have no desire to kindle it.

I study a lot and have to read textbooks that are not available to download. I often annotate and highlight pieces of text, so it is a book for me.

Kindle, it's immediate, I can sample first and I can read a couple different books at the same time without having to lug them around...

My favorite style book is a small paperback. It's not too heavy, it's inexpensive, it's commonly found, and the physical medium is the most comfortable to handle.

The kindle feels heavy. It's not heavy, but it feels that way. Probably because it has high density. Almost like it's cutting into my fingers a little as I'm reading.

Also it's not intuitive where you are in the book, like in a regular book with a bookmark. I actually like that. Perhaps I'm oldschool.

Although my absolute favorite reading method was not mentioned. The internet is great because it's not linear, it's interconnected.

Most of my reading is on subjects that have no clear answer. I'll navigate through twenty different web pages checking facts and background information related to the main topic/article.

I don't like that a computer screen is backlight. It's harder on the eyes. And a laptop is not a good medium for reading material.

But it's the most versatile for navigating the information that interests me.

Books, paper, ink on the page, that I can smell and flip through, make notes in the margin, have on my self - that's books & reading. The rest os just gimmickry for folks who think it's cool to use technology.

A paperback is fine, but whatever it is where it sucks the ink out of cartridges, and the papers coming out of the printer, there's nothing quite like that. This is best for public domain literature.

Or clothbound. Am so used to having a book in my hand to hold on to and cherish and value think I would be completely lost without one and really feel threatened that they may no longer exist in the near future. Just another thing I long ago accepted as forever and now find being taken away.

I'll always choose a book, my thoughts are, if you drop your book on the concrete sidewalk, you can still read it.
