Help answer this question below.

When an NFL team is 14-0, with record multii-season win streak of 23, should they go for the undefeated season, or protect their starters?

This is what happened with the Coits, this year. I understand we are DEFINITELY in the play-offs, and have a good chance for the Superbowl, and there's ALWAYS a chance of the marquee players being hurt (they say they are "resting" them), but, especially with a first-year coach who could get an "undefeated" record in that first year, with the records being smashed, with the fans who WANT them to try for it... Is it worth the ire of the fans to keep players from being hurt?

Of course, if they HAD tried, and anyone, especially Manning, was hurt, the fans would have demanded to know why they even TRIED for the record, right?

So... What would you have done?

I say that a team should play to the best of their abilities.

Obviously, there is a concern with injuries...but there is ALWAYS a concern about injuries.

Playing to the best of your abilities doesn't mean killing yourself or your players on the field. It means just that.

I understand strategy, and I also understand that I don't know every detail about the team status and conditions. But it SEEMS that they deliberately did not perform up to speed.

    And I don't think that's right.

you have to rest and protect your starters, the superbowl should be your main objective, any thing else like an undefeated season or breaking records, has to be second priority, tired or injured starters can not win a superbowl. REST THEM,it is the smartest decision you can make.
