    I generally use last.fm to find new bands (you type in a band you like to go to that band's "radio" station, which plays similar-sounding artists) and soulseek to download it. Soulseek is the only thing I've found that has obscure music...I was using kickasstorrents.com , but they didn't have what I was looking for, more often than not! (Still has a lot better of a selection than most sites.)

    uTorrent is what I use for my transfers.
