  OK so are apostates then GUARANTEED a place in hell - no second chance?
  
  What about a loser like me who DARES to criticize and challenge the ONLY true Church on earth after blatantly rejecting and it's glorious, true, and restored gospel of salvation by grace (after all you can do of course)?
  
  After I'm silly enough to believe that OTHER apostate gospel of salvation by faith through unconditional grace! Am I now guaranteed a place in outer darkness right next to those dastardly (and apparently damned) Ex-Mormons?
  
  And if so does that give Mormons the right to treat we mere sons of perdition like "doo-doo" in the here and now?

• Once again I feel that it falls upon my shoulders to correct whew's mistake. As is the case with most religions, Christian religions at least, members believe that they are correct for some reason or another and/or that some other denomination might be incorrect for some reason or another. This being said I think it is a fairly common belief that things will be set straight in the afterlife, i.e. people will have the opportunity to have questions over denominational issues answered. Mormons believe that at this point when whatever truths are revealed, people will have a chance to accept or reject them (A concept I have often pondered about as I see no reason for anyone to reject something if they can see a physical manifestation of it. However, I suppose this happens all the time during mortal life so will postmortal life be different? I don't know.) Those that reject these truths will NOT be made a son of perdition from my understanding but will simply lose their ability to progress until, and if, they can come to grips with reality. So according to Mormon belief if anyone rejects the gospel in this life it is because they may not fully understand it and will then be given a chance in the second life.

  Then can you explain why I see Mormons threatening BOTH ExMormons AND Anti-Mormons with hell if they don't repent and join the LdS Church.
  
  Both example, I have been received this threat several times because I know so much about the LdS Church/Theology and understand the LdS Plan of Salvation but not ONLY refuse to be baptized into the LdS Church but have the gall and audacity to question and/or criticize it all.

• That threat would probably be more like you will be damned (your eternal progression blocked or limited) rather than that you'll go to Hell per se. Only faithful Mormons (plus children who die before reaching the age of accountability, and people who are baptized by proxy after death) can enter the Celestial Kingdom, so all non-LdS of modern times are damned. Also, Mormons who do not live the Gospel will be kept from the Celestial Kingdom.

  If that's the case then I have uncovered yet one more area where Mormonism takes a Judeo-Christian word and changes the meeting, content, and form.
  
  In traditional Judeo-Christian Theology "damned" means:

• Laie, it is true that Sheol is translated as abode of the dead. However, the Hebrew word Shoel does not translate to mean spirit prison* (I assume that when you equated Sheol with Hell, you also equate your stance that it can be thought of as a spirit prison). Many Jews believe that Sheol (Hades in Greek) is where a soul goes for purification and punishment before ascending to Olam Ha-Ba (the world to come) or to being destroyed if it is a very wicked soul. According to the Bible, Sheol is where the dead sleep until the day of judgement. The Bible tells us that the blessed dead will sleep in the bossom of Abraham within Sheol, while the cursed will be there in torment. Believers in Jesus know that once judgement day comes, those who have died will be awoken (those who have not yet died will not need to be awoken) and raised to righteous judgement and eternal (forever) life with their Savior. The cursed dead will not sleep within Sheol, but will be tormented and will be able to see accross the chasm that seperates the blessed from the cursed dead. At the time of ressurection, the cursed dead will be raised and judged to condemnation within the fires of Gehenna (the lake of fire) for all eternity (forever).

• In Mormon theology, Sheol (the abode of the dead) is divided into "Paradise" (Bosom of Abraham) and "Spirit Prison". Mormonism teaches that all the dead pass through Spirit Prison until they are purified / purged of any sins for which they did repent, after which time the righteous enter Paradise to await judgment and assignment of a kingdom (one of the degrees of glory or Outer Darkness).
