You're reading MORMONS: Can I be baptized into the LdS Church if I'm still drinking coffee, caffeinated Cola/Tea/Cocoa, And/Or alcohol?

Thank you for your answer.
>In fact, hot cocoa is often served at camp-outs and after service projects<
Really? I'm not Mormon but I find that shocking since it's BOTH a hot drink and loaded with caffeine.
On the soft drink front the only Mormons I know that drink caffeinated soft drinks are all jack. My Aunt would have a melt down if one of my cousins had a Cola drink. It was NOTHING but 7Up and Root Beer in their house.

There are many Mormons who don't drink cola. My mission had a rule that missionaries couldn't drink cola, not because cola is against the Word of Wisdom, but because so many members think it is. However, the First Presidency has issued official statements declaring the Church doesn't have an official position on cola or caffeine.

Dude, what the LdS Church dictates about D&C 89 and what D&C 89 actually says is SO incongruous as to render it irrelevant.
Why don't y'all just rewrite D&C 89 to say: "Don't smoke, don't chew, and don't 'hang' with boy and girls who do!"
That would be just as congruous with the current application of what it actually says IMO.
