That depends upon the size of the lawn, the condition of maintenance (such as tallness of the grass), the amount of time it will take and whether you are using the customer's mowing equipment or your own. The price likely will vary with each customer.

- I mowed a lawn and i charged $30. Everybody in the neighborhood agreed because we were having a neighborhood grill party thing so they all said i could mow their lawns for $40. I'm gonna make a lot of cash thanks to your advice.

Let's pretend all different services cost five bucks.

Cost of labor per hour, the service, gas, edging, using their tool(s) [or yours], etc.

That's 5 different costs; 25 bucks at least. You need to have at least 25 to break even; so you should be charging for at least around 35-40 bucks an hour or your not going to make very much. any less than you can't make decent profit, any more you can be turned away for lower cost.

Don't take my math seriously though, it's hardly accurate. It's merely a rough sketch of what to consider if someone was to persue this.

Most important thing to know about charging money for your services is how much it will cost YOU to give it and to continue putting in time, money, and services.

Your at the mercy of the market. I know this because I have taken marketing and finance classes. Feel free to ask me more precise questions. I'm all ears.

- Gas doesn't really cost much. I can't put a price on labor, all of the lawns have about the same size. Edging is an extra $10 because it's the hardest part.

I thought I was in High Cotten when I was getting $5.00 to cut lawns back in high school..and quarter acre lawns at that..:)

of course this was a few years ago..ahem..;)

my guys do it for $25 - they jump off the truck with their fancy equipment and it takes them all of 15 min. They are amazing to watch! Takes me a freakin hour to do it.
