Help answer this question below.

In Missouri, Mother and "Ken" have been partners, same household >28yrs. In planning for her care, does she have any recourse?

Does she have any legal recourse. They both have pensions, ss, sup health care. He is Korean war vet, a sweetheart. Just want to see my mother treated fairly. Can she stay in the home? Thanks

    No if all she has is just what you say, she has no recourse in anything. He can make her POA and if he gets disabled where he can't care for himself, she can have a say in that.
    He has to make a will and specify anything he wants her to have, otherwise, the nearest living relative is the final say. She could contest the estate but unless it's millions of dollars , the lawyers would take everything.
    IF he's really a sweetheart, he should have made a will by now.

    If you want legal advice, a poll isn't the place to get it... No matter WHAT you want for your mom, she'll be treated just like a roommate, and roommates DON'T have rights to their roommates stuff, and they DON'T have rights to make medical decisions for their roommates...

    If she wants protection, she should get married.

    PS> Common law marriage is only recognized in a few states... Chances are your mother doesn't live in one.
