Of coarse they should. What gives some Muslim extremists the right to tell us what we can and cannot see.

Where exactly in the Koran does it say that images of Mohammed may not be shown?

For hundreds of years muslims have made pictures of Mohammed so why stop now? I saw a TV News reporter buying pictures of Mohammed recently in Tehran in a shop outside a mosque.

These pictures were all made by Muslims.

I want to see the surrah that says no images of him are allowed at all, because I've heard people freak out of it and I've also listened to panel discussions where a scholar was saying that's not true and talking about buying beautiful paintings of Muhammed for his home -- buying them in predominantly muslim countries, from muslim shopkeepers. It was right after the whole debacle with the cartoon and he said that, barring a few crazies, people were upset because of the disrespectful way he was displayed, not that he was displayed at all.

That said, we don't really have "images" of him. Same as Jesus, there weren't exactly photos at the time (although at least Muhammed's most common portrayal can be assumed to be the correct race, unlike Jesus being usually displayed as incredible fair-skinned and fine-haired... in Judea...). And I do think it's a bit crass to use him in a crappy political cartoon (the panel also pointed that out-- a publisher said he'd never run the cartoon, regardless of it being offensive, because it was just not a good cartoon at all).

No. If it is against the Islam religion, their wishes should be respected. What does anyone gain by doing something just to irritate another and show disrespect for their beliefs?

Sure why not? If Jesus gets air time, why shouldn't all the big guys of the other religions get air time? It would be irresponsible and not even objective for any news media to favor one image over another. Not all Muslims are our enemies.

Yes. If people don't like something that is on television, they don't have to watch it. If people don't want to look at something in the newspaper, no one is forcing them to look at it.

I find the television show 'big brother' to be trash. Occasionally it is offensive, frequently it is boring. However, I don't contest the rights of others to watch 'big brother', I just turn off the television when it comes on.
If there were images I found offensive or distasteful in a magazine, I wouldn't look at them. No one is making me look at them, so everything is fine.

no. how do they know what he looked like? and if even if they knew what he looked like...he made referance in his teachings to not taking pictures of people because pics and paintings usually get hung on walls and that could be seen as you worshipping the person in the pic who is not your god. It puts someone on par with god and that in itself is a grave sin.

If a muslim goes over to a country that has different cultures and values then they should have no say in the matter, the country is not there's and they have no right to dictate another country's actions.
If they wanna ban it in there own country then fine but not in mine you don't.

Nothing should ever be free from scrutiny or mockery. Ever. That's non-negotiable.
