    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

On One Hand: Some Doctors Proclaim Health Benefits

Medical marijuana increases appetite while decreasing nausea and vomiting. It also works against pain and may be synergistic with pain medications, helping people sleep, and improves mood, according to Dr. Donald I. Abrams in a WebMD article. Marijuana can help with cancer, glaucoma, HIV and Alzheimer's disease, reports BreakingJist.com.

On the Other: Other Doctors Remain Skeptical

Dr. Charles Chabal, a pain management specialist at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, Washington, told WebMD that he sees no role for it in pain management. "There's no doubt it makes you feel good, but so does alcohol," he said.

    Bottom Line

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, marijuana has a host of negative health consequences, including increasing the risk of cancer and lung infections and a weakened immune system. More research is needed to ascertain whether the benefits outweigh possible negative health consequences.

Every single illness or symptom supposedly treated by marijuana already has a legal, FDA approved alternative that works just as well as or better than marijuana.

From everything that i have read on this topic, it seems that there is great medical value to medical marijuana for many different aliments. As to the dangers, I dont agree with that. The supposed risk and danger dont seem to be supported by the majority of medical professionals. The percentage that do support that marijana is a gateway or harmfull, most not all, but most are all assiocated with the major pharmaceutical industry. Some of which are on the board of directors. If medical marijuana became legalized through out the united states. Drug companies would loose close to 1 billion dollars per year. Ever had an operation or extreme nausea? All of the drugs they have for this symptom, are not effected enough and some plain dont work. However if you smoked a joint, no more nausea.
