I hate that word! That's divided people for too long.When are we going to realize we are all equals??

- Equals indeed! I agree. I hate some associations of the word. But to limit the word to only a racist connotation is racist in itself. In my opinion. I might be jealous that my perception says that one race gets to own a whole word to themselves. That is not equality. I want the freedom to use all words in my script without offending others.
  I think it is obvious who the ignorant one is when it is used in negative connotation. The user.
  I hate it when people assume i'm racist. That is prejudice. I like to believe I am a humanist.

I'm rather niggardly in this category.

If it's a 'naughty' word, then why do those who get 'huffy' about it, use it so often?

It is not a word I like to hear either from black or white.
.
It has no particularly bad references as people imagine but is just the Spanish word "negra" mispronounced by Southerners when the black people first came to America..
To use it today whatever your colour to me just denotes a certain insensitivity and ignorance.

The oppression, hatred, stupidity, and laying bare of all the worst qualities of humanity that the N-word represents is about as disgusting as anything I can imagine.

I have trouble using it even in academic terms (e.g. "Racist bigots tend to use the word...[N-word]...when describing African-Americans")

Perhaps if the word was a historical anachronism, I wouldn't mind so much, but the word is very much alive and kicking and being used in our modern day political discourse.

Late edit: INTERESTING! - If you look at the picture on the Rachel Maddow show clip, and the one on the Teaparty.org web site (last picture down on the far left). THEY ARE THE SAME PICTURE!

One of them has been PhotoShopped!

- Anyone who knows photoshop or just plain paint shop pro can tell you for a fact that the one on the tea party website is photoshopped. It is too clean and it looks like someone not very skilled wrote the letters out with a mouse.

- Thanks Arisztid. I sent an e-mail to the Rachel Maddow Show telling them what I found and asking them to investigate. Who knows? It might turn into an even bigger expose of Mr. Robertson's bigotry and his attempts to cover it up in the name of 'patriotism'.
  
  Now that you point it out, the Teaparty.org picture does have that suspicious 'mousy' quality to the writing....;-D...

- It's also interesting to note that most of the Tea Bagger signs tended to have relatively large amounts of text on them (sometimes text and pictures).

- Not only is it too simple, as I said, it is obviously faked. Not only that, it is badly faked. Keysha could do it in a way that would be almost impossible to detect. If I tried to fake it it would come out like that sign.

It's a word like any other, but my question is why Black people say it to each other like nothing, and yet when a white guy says it, you'd better run for the hills!

- Yes. And was used in portion to illegalize weed. They said "Black folk would look twice at white women" when they were on weed. They talked smack about the Mexicans too. To have their way. That was then. Much has happened. Here we are today. Are we people above stigmas yet?
