Once again people, this is F*****G BULL****T!

There is nothing inherent in credit records that makes using them as a factor in employment decisions any more fair than using race, religion, politics, ethnicity, personal friends, library records, etc.

It's the same logic. People who (have bad credit, are dark-skinned, are from Lower Elbonia, voted Green Party, etc.) are statistically more likely to cause problems for an employer, therefore employers should have the right to know sorts of personal information about you.

In the case of race, creed, religion, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, etc., we make this explicitly illegal.

Yet, for some unfathomable reason, (Actually, it's fathomable: People have been brainwashed by the Corporatist Kleptocracy) people are willing to let employers make similar decisions based on statistical notions about credit scores.

It's BULL***T, it's Fascism and people who support it are hypocrites and/or idiots.

I am surprised at how many people said yes to this. I am going to vote no. Although credit information is supposedly private, the employer actually uses this information to gauge how trustworthy they feel an employee will be. Lets say a person is constantly delinquent on credit. What that means is, there is a potential that they are not responsible in their fiscal responsibility. Checking your credit score is a means to see if that employer trusts whether or not you can do your job. Sure you might think that you can, but the employer needs proof other than your spoken word or resume. They need to see if they can trust you. It is the same with banks for mortgage loans. Banks want to check your credit background because they are entrusting their money into your hands. Your good or bad rating is a representation to the bank, that you will or will not pay them back for the loan. Its the same way with employers. By seeing a credit score, they can see just how willing or attentive you are in responsibility. Fiscal responsibilty is a choice, and many Americans have chosen to make un-wise choices such as getting tied in with credit cards.

As much as I dislike it I really don't see how it's any differnt than looking at your transcripts or asking for references.

Yet another way bosses want to own you 24/7, credit reports are almost always crap and say nothing of what type of person you are or how good you are at your job. Remember you can be 1 day late in paying something and you will get a bad credit report.
