Was this latest update INTENDED to get rid of all of us AB old-timers?

• Unfortunately --sadly-- I suspect what you wrote, Arisztid, is accurate...and that it has always been the case. It has long amazed me how the principals/management of this site are what I see as so lacking in sound business sense. I'm going to miss the familiar and good folks here, including yourself. • It is sad, Chuck, but a lot of the old guard is leaving. I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do. I have not found a q & a website yet that I want to stay at, including the replacement for answerbag. I am probably going to find something else to do with my bored time than q & a websites.

• yes, because yahoo! isn't full of phony nonsense answers... and the younger crowds go there... hell i am part of those younger crowds, but I came here because of the fact that they are younger, and don't know as much as the "old-timers". I still go back there from time to time if I need advice on fashion and stuff... now I need another site... sigh...

• Yeah... After a number of false starts on other Q&A boards, including one written by an ex-ABer. Damn-near everything is hear that was before, but points, and they are supposed be in (hopefully) by the end of the week. I'm sure people will be POed because they "lost points", but if they look around, EVERYONE will have, they SHOULD be at the same level, and it SHOULDN'T be any harder to get to the next level than it was before.
  
  Ironic they went to Facebook, considering many of them used the complaint that AB looked MORE like Facebook, now, and they DIDN'T like FB. Also ironic that they complained they couldn't get around here, very easily, and they've been through so many different sites, if they'd have simply stayed here, and worked within what we had at the time, pointing out glitches, and suggesting things, they might have the feeling of accomplishment that those of us who did have. I mean, think about how much time they spent shifting around, when staying here, they'd actually KNOW this site, by now, right?
  
  Well, it's all water under the bridge, now. Almost everything's working as it did before or better, now. If they'd expend their energies here, it shouldn't take them long at all to figure it out.

• TJ, If I left AB, I wouldn't have a "home" site. I'd have my own, but this is a COMMUNITY. Looks like everyone went on vacation at the same time, and some will stay on their remote island, but people are starting to trickle back in, finding out it's not so bad, after all.
  
  I understand those who miss the orange (that was one of the things that caught my eye, in the beginning), but the SITE, and how it looks is NOT what MADE AB. It was the people. And it will ALWAYS be such, even if they are NEW people. Having been here over 2-1/2 years, I've seen 'em come, and I've seen 'em go. And websites, changing their formats, just doesn't get to me, I guess. It happens. Having changed mine completely once, my fathers 5-6 times, I know how it is "in the booth". And I have seen MANY sites change, some for the good, some for the bad. But again, AB isn't the site, it's the people. It's been down before and built back up. Actually, from my understanding, it happened when that format we all loved came into being. It'll do it again. And why can't I be "in" on it, making sure everything works right? Hell, I've had a helluva lot of fun the past month doing just that, and seeing many of the results of many of my notes and suggestions come into being QUICKLY. There are still a lot of them that haven't been done (YET), but I'm sure they will be, in time. Then I CAN say I had something to do with it.
  
  And, in a few years, when AB changes format again, the same thing will happen. I don't know if I'll be here, then, but hopefully, it will go much smoother. ;-)
