Is Jesus Christ really the Lord God Almighty, or is he just another son of God?

• Why did Jesus Christ say "If ye love me, keep my commandments," then? [John 14:15] If Jesus Christ is not the Lord God Almighty ... if he is not Jehovah ... why is he saying the commandments are his? They are God's commandments.
  
  Jesus Christ is the Lord our God. He is our just God and Savior. Only God himself could be our Redeemer.

  That's fairly simple Bridget, Jesus had already been given authority to do so by his Father upon his baptism.
  
  (Matthew 17:5) “While he was yet speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and, look! a voice out of the cloud, saying: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to him.”
  
  
  If you remember is was Jesus that earlier gave the new commandment to his disciples, that they love one another, as he personally gave it, and as he had the authority to do so from his Father it was quite normal for him to have referred to them as his.
  
  (John 13:34-35) “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.”
  
  (Matthew 22:36-40) “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.”
  
  
  If your partner paid for a car yet you were the one who used it all the time, would you refer to it as your car or your partners ? The fact that you are the one that uses it normally would mean you would refer to it as yours even though technically it is not.
  
  Although Jesus referred to them as his, he knew all things ultimately come from The Father Jehovah.
  
  (James 1:16-17) “Do not be misled, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect present is from above, for it comes down from the Father of the [celestial] lights, and with him there is not a variation of the turning of the shadow.”

• You are joining things together without any reason or evidence to do so, lets run through what you just said;

  “Jesus Christ” is not the “Everlasting Father” nowhere in scripture is Jesus called the Everlasting Father, so why join them and under who's authority do you do so ?
  
  It's not just about reading one version of scripture and possibly listening to one priest's opinion, we need to study scripture to find the truth, if we do not we are just kidding ourselves and really have no idea of what the bible says and have never had any salvation.

  This statement is to vague to have any useful meaning, we would first need to understand how someone personally understands the English word “God” which is a study on it's own, and what exactly is “salvation” and how it operates.
  
  I more detailed explanation of that statement would be;
  Jehovah God is the provider of all salvation, and that means of salvation comes through the shed blood of his only begotten son Jesus Christ.

  I do not deny Jehovah God who is also Jesus' God, and also recognise the saviour, Almighty God's son Jesus Christ, salvation only comes through Jesus, but it is provided by Jehovah, we need to recognise both to have any meaning.
  
  (Mark 15:34) And at the ninth hour Jesus called out with a loud voice: “E′li, E′li, la′ma sa·bach·tha′ni?” which means, when translated: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

  Yes very true, Is 45:22 is with reference to Jehovah God, here are some other scriptures that correspond;
  
  (Deuteronomy 4:35) “You—you have been shown, so as to know that Jehovah is the [true] God; there is no other besides him.”
  
  (1 Kings 8:60) “to the end that all the peoples of the earth may know that Jehovah is the [true] God. There is no other.”
  
  (Isaiah 45:5) “I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. With the exception of me there is no God. I shall closely gird you, although you have not known me”

• Yeppers, with Moses saying "keep all this commandment that I am commanding YOU" and Jesus saying observe my commandments and some thinking that Jesus is talking about the commandments in the Hebrew Scriptures + the fact that Moses was called a god and was with God, looks like a quadrilogy in the making!

• You are correct in saying Jesus Christ is God himself, our just God and a Savior. However, there are some people who say he is just a creation of God. They make him a son of God (no caps), denying that he always has been God.

  Issaih 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
  
  This verse tells us who the Son is very clearly.
  
  But how can the Son be both God and Father? I don't know. But that is what the Bible says, so I believe it.

• samoizen, maybe you did not read the question correctly, I asked shannon where in scripture does it actually say Jesus is “Almighty” God ?, not Mighty, everyone knows Jesus is a Mighty God.
  
  Did you notice the difference...."AL" which means the only one, a one off, unmatched, Mighty does not have those meanings, but simply better or stronger then most or full of might.
  
  
  This is why although Jesus is referred to as a God and even a Mighty God, in scripture he is never referred to as Almighty God, and why would he, as he is not Almighty God, there is only one Almighty God and his name is Jehovah/Yahweh it's really plain and simple, and quite amazing why so many cannot see it :)
  
  So shannon can you back up your comment “He's the Almighty” with scripture please, just where in scripture does it say Jesus is “ALMIGHTY” God ?

• Isaiah 9 identifies Christ as the Lord of Hosts, who in his zeal himself came to earth to bring light to a darkened world.
  
  Christ is identified as the everlasting Father in the same passage, which is a title reserved for the Almighty God.
  
  The Lord God Jesus Christ himself personally won the victory over the enemy and himself is our Redeemer, as Isaiah states:
  
  "Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak." [Isa.59:15]

• Shannon, JWs and Mormons are not alike. Mormon doctrine is that Jesus Christ is Jehovah, the Almighty God. The JWs believe the opposite.
  
  Mormons are Christian. It's true that some Mormons seem uninterested in humbling themselves before the Lord and knowing him personally as our Great God and Redeemer, but that's a failing among individual Mormons and is their own responsibility.
  
  There is no question that God himself is our Savior, and that he is the same from all everlasting to all everlasting.
  
  "Listen to the voice of Jesus Christ, your Redeemer, the Great I Am..." [D&C 29:1]

• Thanks for your advise Bridget, and I'm sorry that's how you see things, but It's just not the truth, let me explain, if you look at the evidence of every interaction between us you would see that the things you say and quote are always answered and explained in detail as to why your view is in error, but never do you reason on what is said or return any detailed evidence to support your own view.
  
  Why not this time try reasoning on what is said in detail instead of making a remark and then going on to another or disappearing, try to help me see the detail of why you are right if you like.
  
  
  
  You quoted the latter half of Is 45:21, unfortunately it would seem your error this time is misapplying it, and the fact you have chosen to shorten the full scripture may be saying something to all, and could be your true intent, that off manipulation, is it an error or was it done on purpose with the intent of deception ?
  
  Can you see what I mean ?, you talk about Jesus Christ in sentence, then immediately cite part of a scripture that you feel will support your incorrect view, the problem being that is called twisting the scripture for your own means, let's see why when we look at the whole of Is 45:21 and the direct translation of it from the original language;
  
  
  (Isaiah 45:21) “Make your report and your presentation. Yes, let them consult together in unity. Who has caused this to be heard from a long time ago? [Who] has reported it from that very time? Is it not I, JEHOVAH, besides whom there is no other God; a righteous God and a Saviour, there being none excepting me?”
  
  Direct translation;
  (Isaiah 45:21) “tell-you and bring close to you indeed they-shall-be-consulted together who he-announced this from aforetime from then he-told her not I YAHWEH and there-is-no further Elohim from apart-from me El righteous and one-saving there-is-no except me.
  
  
  Surly you can see that omitting half the scripture with the very name of who the scripture is talking about (Jehovah/Yahweh), and then claiming by this omission that it is talking about Jesus is nothing more then twisting the truth to suite your own agenda.
  
  
  Bridget I am not saying trust me, or believe what I say, but for your own sake or peace of mind why not start looking more at the original languages that the scriptures were recorded in, and the direct translation from them into English, I'm sure this deeper study of scripture will help you to begin to see exactly why what is said to you comes from scripture without the problems associated with less accurate translations and poor use of English wording.

• Jesus was teaching his "spiritual message", which was what he "natively" knew as a non-physical, immortal, Spiritual Being, (Father) separate and different from the physical world--including mortal, physical, human bodies with identities of Jesus, Luke or Mary. You need to separate the non-physical spiritual reality from the physical world reality, to understand the "spiritual" message of Jesus...I could not have understood much of this message without first studying spirituality in my own non-faith-based religion...

• If you do not understand that it is Jehovah who is the bread of life, who offers us the joy of drawing water out of the wells of salvation, then you cannot appreciate that Jesus Christ is identifying himself as Jehovah when he says he is the bread of life. Neither will you acknowledge him as the Great I AM.
  
  I strongly urge you to seek the Lord your God Jesus Christ in prayer so that you can learn for yourself who your Savior is. Full of grace and mercy, our Almighty God himself died that we might have everlasting life.

As foretold under divine inspiration, Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which means “House of Bread” (Mic 5:2; Lu 2:11), and through Jesus Christ life-giving “bread” is provided for all believing mankind.—Joh 6:31-35.
  
  Thus it is Jesus that is the “bread that gives life”, and Jehovah that has provided the means for it to happen supplying that bread which is able to save those who put faith in it.
