replace husband with (now ex) wife.... I taught her to drive a stick... a serious trial of patience mostly because when I was not loosing my patience she was accusing me of it. when they are doing something damaging (riding the brakes or clutch, starting in wrong gear, buying arco brand gasoline) they need to be educated so they can improve.

however it really is not likely to effect your motor too much... what will happen is it will burn up the clutch really fast. when teaching someone to use the clutch I recomend doing so from a stop on flat ground in 3rd gear. once they can get her going in third gear by working the clutch and throttle (without over-reving) learning to shift will be a piece of cake.
