Horror movies: Am I the only person who hates people pointlessly screaming in the horror movies? (especially the old ones)

When I hear Her (usually it's a woman), I just think "kill Her already, that will shut Her up... my head is starting to hurt from this nonsense".

Nah, it's part of the fun, and what makes it funny, at least, in my opinion.

Sometimes though, I wish it was a little more realistic...in real life, any plausible horror movie scenario can often leave the victim out of a voice, where all they can do is small noises. Or shit themselves...I read a book about this once, plenty of murder victims are found with their pants soiled. :/

But yeah, not that I particularly wanna see any poop in my Halloweens thx.

The overdramatized screaming scenes are meant to add a higher level of emotion to those movies... especially those old movies that can't rely on computerized special effects to frighten people. Of course... some people are so desensitized by (or spoiled because of) those new age special effects, that the horrifying emotions that used to be stirred up by the helpless screaming woman are no longer felt.

Only unlike you, I find the modern day so called horror movies full of it. I tend to prefer older movies.

I voted in your poll, " No the screaming is great" because it most closely resembles my thoughts -- and I wasn't going to call you a 'bastard.' :) In general, the screaming sometimes can get overly drawn out, I guess. And the points and comments by others and you in other comments make me now more likely to agree with your initial thoughts in your question. If I were in any of the horror movie situations, I'd probably initially yell/scream and then, most likely, be making unintelligible noises under my breath -- or I'd hide and be incredibly quiet -- or -- I really don't know how I'd react. Maybe that's why I tolerate the screaming.

My first reactions in sudden movements or noises like these in the videos are usually jumping back and yelling. Yes, there is generally an initial yell of fright but usually only one yell. I don't know what it says about me -- I've yet to deck someone as my first reaction. I'd be the first to die, I guess. :) But I at least can run fast as hell. :) The links are a fun addition, Anonymous T.
