Do you think how are you doing or have a good day are generic?

I feel those two valedictions are over used and have no meaning;especially saying have a nice day or good one;most people pay it no mind.

When i use to work as a customer service worker I could not stand when people would ask how are you?

most people use those phrases not really wanting to know how you are doing.
