The trend is they they have over doubled in price the past three years. The law of demand clearly says that prices won't go down until supply is up, by drilling or pipeline or whatever means. There is no action to increase supply, though the opportunity had presented itself numerous times, so prices will go up as demand does and supply doesn't.

Of course they will. It's a limited commodity that's getting more and more expensive to pull out of the ground. We're an expanding population that is not seriously trying to find another way to get around.

But the price you pay at the pump is only about 1/4-1/3 of the total cost of gas. The rest is paid in bullets and blood (Iraq I, Iraq II, etc.).

It's a shame that our political leadership lacks the strength of character needed to do what all other civilized governents do, which is to tax the hell out of gas, to encourage people to conserve it and shift to other sources of energy.

It's also a shame that the rising price of oil shifts such enormous wealth from America to unstable countries: Venezuela, Nigeria, Iran, Russia, and Saudi Arabia (the biggest producers of oil).

People who want gas to be cheaper in America are either idiots, or residents of one of these five countries.

Of course they will. They're always going to fluctuate.

It is already increasing as we speak. Right now in my area it is close to $3.40 per gallon for regular. This is just how the world economy works. Flucations usually occur because of inflation. Inflation happens because of supply and demand. Apparently, whenever resources are scarce, then it means more of a price spike so that prices can compensate for such a heavy demand and keep production stable. The fact is, oil barrels continue to increase in price due to limited supply. As a result, we here in America feel the pain at the pump. It is life. I am always happy to see it drop, but if not then there is nothing we can do about it but be thankful that we can pay for gas and drive less.
