You're reading when I try to connect it says this computer is set to connect However this is an unsecured network but it is supposed to be secured whatsup

I have the security key and have typed it in but even though I did it still says this. Unfortunatly it's noty router but my friends fathers and cannot change any of the settings. I can connect to it hardwired but if I try it with both assorted I have it still says it to both. Any clues how to fix this?

Have to be physically there to look at it:(.Sometimes it need a series of approach.
You may follow the second paragraph of my answer and call out the service guys.They will fix it up, or else call up the customer support and follow the instructions.

When I do go with no security it says wireless association failed because windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point

We need to check some configurations personally so, physical presence at your place is required.Moreover, unsecured poses some security threat, so don't go for it.Call up the customer support and they will resolve it in seconds.It will be fixed.
