• I have to go with shunyata on this one. There is almost no difference between how GWB and BHO have used the military.
  
  I will give BHO a slight edge for his decision to make finding Osama bin Laden a priority. But the OBL raid/killing has had almost no effect on America's Descent into Fascism....er, America's national security policies.

• Ah... Bush did. Admittedly it was with the National Guard, but it was some military experience, unlike those that served immediately before and after him.
  
  I would also point out that with a smaller and smaller portion of our population actually serving in the military, it will be more and more difficult to find viable candidates who have served and are willing to run.

• Our men and women in uniform deserve credit for getting bin Laden. I don't think it so much shows Obama to be competent as it shows Bush to be incompetent. The Nobel peace prize was given to Arafat. It lost all meaning a long time ago.

• By your logic Roosevelt was incompetent because he didn't defeat the Japanese before he died and Truman was competent because he used a bomb to end the war that the Roosevelt administration was working on.

• Bush and Obama had different approaches to fighting terrorism. Bush focused on Iraq while Obama chose to focus more on Afghanistan and Pakistan. If you will remember, Bush largely relied on the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and sent relatively few and not very well supported troops to go after Al Qaeda. George W. Bush is perhaps the least competent President in recent memory because he repeatedly put our soldiers into harms way without the resources to win, or in some cases to even protect themselves from roadside bombs. By the time Obama got into office, our military and budget were stretched so thin that I personally think it was ill-advised for Obama to keep troops in Afghanistan (let alone go to war in Libya) but as far as getting bin Laden is concerned, Obama gets 100% more credit for it than Bush.
  
  I have no doubt that if Barack Obama had been President in 2001, Saddam Hussein might still be President of Iraq, but bin Laden would have been dead a long time ago along with his subordinates and subordinates' subordinates. If you want to go to war around the world, Obama does a better job of it than his predecessors. Personally, I think Bush stayed in office four years too long for anyone else to turn his military failures around, and Obama should focus on fixing Bush's economic mess, not his terrorism mess. If we are not going to declare war on our enemies and give our troops the resources to win, then we need to bring them out of harms way now.
