Recently some people were stranded for a few months on an island. All they had to eat was coconuts. They lived and remained healthy on their coconut diet. that should tell you something. Personally, I only use coconut and olive oil. Coconut oil for cooking...Olive oil in my salads, etc. It's a shame how this country (the U.S. ) has conditioned it's inhabitants to eat unhealthy foods. The almighty dollar rules.

Hmmm i dono whether coconut oil is good for health. But i remember once me and my dad tried to mix it with petrol for our moped instead of the 2T oil. Man the output was amazing.. the vehicle was somewhat smoother compared to before and the exhaust smelled good :)

    study Baby coconuts.
the coconut water and the minimal amount of coconut meat are exceptionally healthy. I lived for more than 4 weeks on it alone. it has NO cholesterol, only healthy fats, very little sugar ( complex), fat, and carbs.
    paradise fruit for sure.
the older coconuts which are used to produce coconut oil are different.

All this shows is that if you have TOO MUCH of something, it's bad for you, and if you have TOO LITTLE of something, it's bad for you.
That's the gist of it, I'm not going to put myself in a crazy scenario like the above paragraph and say "well if I was on a desert island..." which, if I was, I'm not even sure how I would be able to drain the oils from the coconut anyway..
but taking things in moderation is key.
Your body needs fats and oils, maybe not the kind from a McDonalds burger, but it needs something to help the body continue to run smoothly.
So, IN MODERATION I completely am for coconut and agree that people should use it.
It's like the issue with fish that's been going on for years, fish is so healthy for you and had so many benefits, but if you eat it morning, day, and night everyday for years, your mercury level is going to get a little crazy.

Coconut oil is extracted from the kernel or meat of matured coconut harvested from the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera). Throughout the tropical world it has provided the primary source of fat in the diets of millions of people for generations. It has various applications in food, medicine, and industry. Coconut oil is very heat stable so it makes an excellent cooking and frying oil. It has a smoke point of about 360 °F (180 °C). Because of its stability it is slow to oxidize and thus resistant to rancidity, lasting up to two years due to high saturated fat content.

Cool guys :) you guys have taken the coconut to the next level...! There is a place called Kerala in India, the south western part, a tropical area. The people from these tropical place have a good health and glowing and health radiating skin, also very active in sex :) All these tropical places have lots of coconut trees and lots of back waters which gives lots of fishes. So, their major food intake happens to be coconut and fish. also these people have a habit of taking oil bath which seems to be good for health.

in its raw form right from the fresh coconut is healthy, but any processing makes it an unhealthy ingredient.

When used topically it does wonderful things. It has cured my dry skin, red ant bites, red toes due to cold, cracked, dry feet...
I love coconut soup, and I always use the 'lite' coconut milk, because it has less fat and calories.
It's probably best to eat it in moderation, because it does contain a lot of fat and calories. Even too much of a 'good thing' can be bad.

Yes, it could be detrimental to my health. (Along with all the other junk I eat, I should add.) I bought a jar of coconut oil a few years ago because I'd read that it made the BEST popcorn. I didn't find that to be true, and then I started reading about how it clogs up your arteries, which I'm doing well enough with on my own, so I stopped using it for cooking and instead used it as a body lotion. It worked great for that and had a pleasant scent, so there ya go. My un-scientific answer.
