    None of the above. (I've used wordpress & joomla)

    Internally, the code is a rats-nest. Anything PHP-oriented is going to suck. (especially if it came out before PHP 5.3) because PHP4 has lacked a lot of the object oriented features, PHP 5.3 finally introduces "closures" but the CMS's you mention were written prior to that.

    Also, software shouldn't be written by web designers. (just as programmers probably shouldn't be designing web pages) the two fields require a different mindset.

    Myself, I prefer svn + the filesystem as a CMS, but I'd usually consider something written in python (or java or even perl) before PHP.
