Chocolate contains endorphins, amino acids that product serotonin, and anadamine. All which stimulate the brain or provide natural substances to the brain for daily functions.
Dark chocolate, in particular, has been proven to help heart function and reduce blood pressure or hypertension. Cocoa also has minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus and potassium that help the overall function of various organs in the body.
Dark chocolate has a lower fat concentrate and is therefore, more healthy than other chocolates. Milk chocolate contains more than double fat content than dark chocolate.
Mary Engler, PhD, RN, of the University of California, finds that a 1.6 ounce bar of dark chocolate a day is good for you. In her study, people who ate a 1.6 ounce Dove dark chocolate bar every day for two weeks had better test results after the study than those who had not eaten any chocolate for the previous two weeks.
Chocolate must be eaten in moderation. While a small serving a day can provide healthy benefits to the body, large servings can provide added fat which can lead to a multitude of health problems.
