Each parent should pay their fair share of raising their child.

But, no matter how much child support the non-custodial parents pays, the custodial parent will be contributing more -- financially, emotionally, etc.

The courts decide child support based on the non-custodial parent's income. But, the custodial parents has to pick up the slack and pay the rest.

Every child is entitled to be supported by both parents ... that's what they "need".

A combination of the two...plus an honorable, moral sense of responsibility.

    based on the child's needs.
you brought them into this world without them asking you to, so pay.
key word: Parent. A parent will take of the children come hell or high water. So.... GET off your lazy ass and take care of the child. PERIOD. BOTH of you.
