    Animals should never be treated cruelly. Animals have the right to be treated as we (are meant) to treat each other.

    We have no right to kill animals, for sport, to do that we deserve less rights, then the animals.

    They can't speak for themselves, so in some cases, no. But it is true that wild animals need more rights. Domestic animals are doing fine though, methinks.

    I think wild animals should be protected more, but they could never have actual rights, they can't even think like we do. They should have the right to live.

    First off, what Leona did was stupid because the dog does not know and does not care about money(it is a human thing). The only thing the dog might think of it would probably a chew toy or something to take a leak on.
    But I do believe that animals should have some rights like us because...
    1)We mistreat them all the time just because we have evolved much more than any species and think of ourselves as superior.
    2)If us humans weren't around, many of those species like the dodo bird would still be around.
    3)We humans try to save each other from death even though we are in tremendous pain(if in an accident), but for animals, we just kill them by euthanizing them from the smallest thing like missing ligaments and cancer.

    I'm not saying that they should have all our rights because we are different from them, but we should at least give them some.

    Well you only left me with two very loaded answers neither of which I agreed with, so I just voted the same way the person before me voted so as not to change the percentages.

    Of course animals have rights and should have rights, but no way should they be equal to the rights of humans no matter what your world view. And here's why:
    10. No other species offers us equal rights with them.
    9. We are higher life forms, and more intelligent. We have demonstrated our supremacy over the animals.
    8. God gave man dominion over the animals, which ofcourse means we are responsible for them and their well being, but it also means we're in charge not them.
    7. How can we possibly give animals the freedom of speach or the right to vote?
    6. Our leagle system can not handle all the criminal cases it is presented with now, if we were forced to try every dog that bites with assault and so forth it would collapse the justice system.
    5. To afford animals the same rights as humans would either necessitate an illegality of hunting and slaughter houses or a legality of cougars killing campers (which would mean we couldn't take retribution) and then what of dogs who turn on and kill their "co-equal habitation partners" would they be allowed to prove they were simply hunting for sport and not murdering
    4. I don't think we can find enough teachers to put all the fish through public school.
    3. Most animals are not contributing members of society
    2. an equal employment act would allow rats and roaches to get jobs in resteraunts... ewwww.
    And the number one reason animals should not have the same rights as people:
    1. Next plants will be demanding equal rights and then we will all starve to death except the criminals.
