In my opinion, if it could lead to the development of drugs that save human life then yes. I honestly don't know enough about the science involved to understand if there is a viable alternative. I would have thought if there was it would be used.

Yes. The reason being that some research is too dangerous to perform on humans... and I view the life of a human much more precious than the life of an animal.

If medical research on an animal will directly result in ways to save human life, it is worth the sacrifice. If not on animals... then on who or what?

If it is life saving medical research, yes. If it is non-vital, then no.

I personally think that they should use those who are on death row...they could serve some purpose at least.

I support animal research, because it leads to discoveries that save a lot of lives both human and animal. Most animal research is regulated to use the least # of animals possible, and euthanise them if necessary.

I think that if the medicines are going to end up being for humans, then they should test them on humans.
And if they absolutely have to test them on animals, then they should at least provide the animals with a comfortable accommodation and appropriate diet, they should be put under anesthetic when being treated upon and treated with care and respect.
I saw a doccumentary recently about it which showed these dogs being shaken and kicked, and a monkey that had the word 'crap' cut into its forhead.
I agree with nursegirl71, they should use criminals for testing on.
