Windows 98 troubleshooting.

In windows 98, all the icons and windows are too big for the screen. I have tryed to go into the display settings to change the size of the appearance, but because the window is too big I can't see what i'm s'posed to change. How can i get it back normal?

I want to Install Windows XP over 98. I put in the disc when 98 was running, tried to install and then in the middle of installation the computer restarts. Afterwards I go back into Windows, and I run Setup again, and the whole process restarts. Help Plz!
