I brought my 2003 cadillac cts to a regular mechanic (not gm) & had the rack and pinion replaced. Every time i turn the wheel to the right or left, about half a turn , there's a loud creaking sound coming from the front of the car. Any ideas?

I own 2002 Honda civic (67k miles). When I hit a bump or drive on uneven road I feel clunking sound at the back of my car. I also feel slight vibration that comes and goes when I drive at speeds <40mph.What could be the cause of that?Shocks?Sway bar link?
