The Heater/AC control knob does not change the direction of the air flow. Would this be a vacuum leak? How can I correct this problem? It's for my 97 GMC Safari van.

I have a 97 Safari. It won't turn over. The battery is good and it clicks when the key is turned but it won't crank. CAA man said it was the starter but I think the solenoid would go first. Maybe not. Anyone have this similar problem?
