1st Gen PS2, Browser/config comes up fine. When I push enter and go to the game/mc window it won't let me select anything. I push the button and it quickly switches back to the first mc. But I am not allowed to enter anything at this window. HELP?

I am playing a game on my PS2 and im playing medal of honor:european assualt. In order to put a cheat code u must put in cheat mode. Once cheat mode is put in it should pop up Enter Cheat but instead it says Cheat code failed. WTH?
