I have an old vcr. When I plugged it in, I heard a buzzing noise, then the VCR started smoking. Nothing was on the display. How do I fix?

My Orion DVD is playing up. Sometimes it'll work fine but other times it'll freeze. Sometimes the screen goes green but the soundtrack will keep going. Some DVDs work some don't (even new ones) and those that don't work are fine in other players
