I have a 1998 yamaha 30 hp motor tht will not go into reverse and stay there. In order for it to go into reverse you have to force it.. If you give it gas while in reverse i sounds as if gears are grinding.. Can you help me out?

In practice,inverters draws power from batteries,is it possible to connect it directly to the alternator and draw power from it, afterall it is the alternator who charges the battery,but im not sure if it is possible if this is doable.
