Ask questions and share your knowledge with the world here on Answerbag. Get the best answers where there are no duplicate questions and questions are always open - our community of over 1,142,000 will find your answer!
As of today, it should be a wee bit easier for newcomers to join your ranks, as the few, the proud, the registered members of Answerbag.com.
That's because we've now integrated with Facebook Connect. That means you can create an account on Answerbag, and login, strictly by using your existing Facebook account.
Down the line, we hope to introduce (optional) ways to link your existing AB account with Facebook, if you're already registered, and then build in ways to automagically share your questions and answers between both sites. But that's all in the future, and we're not there yet.
I think this is a great idea. We should get some more real members other than just people who come here for one question.
IIRC I came here from i-am-bored.com
Or some other site, I can't remember!

Hey, let's just spend time taking part in all sorts of trendy nerd-like things, instead of fixing the myriad problems with our own system.
Tan-friggin-fastic.
Because none of us joined AB because of the anonymity, and the fact that we could keep AB completely separate from the people we know IRL.
Hey, why don't we add a Twitter box, too... so we can keep up on all of each other's pointless rantings in 280 characters or less?*
*please don't do this.
I agree Lady Alathia. I think this is a bad thing to do. Part of the joy of AB is remaining anonymous and taking a break from real life and those we know in real life.
With all the constant glitches (of which I am still having some) why not concentrate on making the repairs and things better for AB and not worrying about the Facebook part. Sorry but I just feel like this is a mistake.
thanks for the information concerning facebook, i'll now be even more discreet when answering questions on AB ... i hope one day that i will never be forced to join facebook, sorry but that's how i feel
Only if it generates more income. You guys better be thinking with dollar signs at the fore. Only pick ideas with the potential to bring in more cash flow.
How about pConnect? Poker anyone? Answerbag users can invite other users to a friendly game of poker.
I just died a little on the inside when I went to log in and saw a facebook logo. Answerbag better be seeing some sort of cash flow out of this, because otherwise you just did something profoundly stupid for no reason.
I think there's a lot of confusion — and perhaps even misplaced anger — regarding what the launch of Facebook Connect on Answerbag means.
Facebook Connect will allow newcomers to the site to register with Answerbag more easily. No one is required to link their account with Facebook, and we can't and won't expose any information about you that you don't explicitly ask us to.
If you already have an account, it's not linked with Facebook. You will never be under obligation to create a Facebook account — let alone link to it — to continue using Answerbag.
I know that your passions for Answerbag runs deep, and I sincerely appreciate that. Our community helps make AB what it is, and we don't forget it. And I also know that the site you love was neglected for far too long after Joel's departure.
But please know that we now have a big and growing team focused on all things Answerbag. Over the past few weeks, we've rolled out more fixes and upgrades than had hit the site in months prior: Better, faster more relevant search; better handling of points for flagging bad users; the new related Q&A module on answer pages; overall speed improvements, and more. We're hard at work on the site, and working every day to make it better.
If there are issues you'd like us to focus on — lingering bugs, etc. — we'd love to hear about them right here!
Wow, am I the only one who is in favour of this?
Was I even the only one who came here because of a link from another site?
Damn, I feel so foreign...
oh by the way Lex, I can't flag questions as nonsense, it says the page has an error, if you can help.

I love the fact that this is so anonymous, as do most others I bet. I like that seperation. I'm not excited about this.
There are just so many steps being taken to promote AB, to get new users, and to make things new and exciting. Most of these things I am sure we appreciate, and we appreciate that AB needs to make money, but it seems that hardly anything is being done to fix things for the existing users. I see no real evidence of it, anyway.
After all, all we *really* want is no bugs and glitches.
I am on Facebook. When I go there I connect with people I know from school, work, etc. It will be weird when real word Vincent collides with anonymous Vincentcent VIA friends. Wait n see.
I had the Answerbag application on my facebook page. I really regret having it there and hope no one looked me up on this site. I think one of the best parts about Answerbag is the anonyminity.
I don't know if everyone is having this problem but the New Arrivals page is not keeping up to date. I am having to go to social page 1 to get updated answers and questions. I have seen activity on social page that don't even show on New Arrivals page. Still a glitch somewhere.

New Arrivals hasnt been updating properly for me for what seems like a month now! It's really disappointing, 'cos that's where I spend most my time ... the new arrivals page ... or at least it was :(
Hmm sorry ~ thought I was responding to an actual post .. didnt know it would appear as a completely new one .. now it seems completely off track!

You're fine SilentPurr. It says you responded to therapist's comment.
Thank you for the great job on fixing some of the problems with the site Lex. I have had some major ones which saw me unable to really take part for almost a week but they have since been resolved. As to facebook, I dislike all social networking sites of this manner and will truly be watching carefully what happens in the future with this. I find those kind of sites to be extremely invasive. So long as it stays as something for facebook people to see and I do not have to be shown their rubbish when I am here I will be happy.
Hm. It seems that my level has finally updated. It took a while, though. I apologize if this issue has already been addressed, it's been quite a while since I've been on AB.
